Another interesting thing about the interview was that O'Sullivan clearly didn't watch the Higgins v Selby match or know the result. He referred to the match, when speaking about how he prefers to play, saying he didn't want to play that kind of match-snooker (alhough there hadn't actually been much of the snooker he thought there'd be, and he'd just done exactly that). I think he fluctuates with his attitude regarding winning or losing against playing well and enjoying playing. Looking forward to Sheffield, I'm not sure him playing in all of these tournaments will benefit him at The Crucible (despite the fact he has been very consistent). But, trying to work O'Sullivan out at The Crucible remains a big challenge to us all.

I'm also starting to think there might be some correlation between playing well against players he respects and not playing well against players he doesn't. Maybe down to different preparation and / or not wanting to embarrass himself.

There's no question that there are certain players he will always be motivated to play in the latter stages of tournaments - Williams, Murphy and Ding to name just three. (He plays A.Carter in R1 of the Gibraltar Open, and he is as likely to throw his cue at everything as he is to knuckle down, whereas if they met in a QF/SF he would be highly-motivated and play 'properly' as it's Carter.) His attitude in defeat against J.Brown surprised me though, as he looked really focused during the event, and it looked like the fact that the tournament was being played away from Milton Keynes freshened him up mentally. The opening frame of that final was huge and had O'Sullivan won it the likelihood is that he would have won easily, but all the little rubs went against him in the 1st session and he never really settled. It could be that being back at an empty Crucible inspires him, particularly after last year, but his schedule this season does worry me. Whereas, there'll be a few 'possibles' potentially going there very fresh.
No strong opinions on tonight's action. Nothing between the two on the numbers for the season and a 2-2 H2H. JB was mightily impressive yesterday, though....
JB plays to the level of his last match he wins. But like Ron he and Jb go up and down on the levels like when he destroyed Ron then had a let down against big boy

He can definitely win it in this form. No reason to assume the technical changes he's made will stop working, so it's just a question of not burning out before then. 16s (generally) looks a decent punt at the minute.

Ronnie & JB have met 53 times, with JB just edging the H2H 27-26. Ronald has won 310 frames to JB's 309 (619 frames played out of a possible 729, if my maths is correct).
Ronnie's numbers for the season are marginally superior to JB's.
This week, Ronnie has made 14x 50s from 28 frames played, converting 3 to tons. JB has made a phenomenal 15x 50s from 19 frames played, converting 5 to tons.
Ronnie will be hoping he's not going to be 0/4 in finals this season come tomorrow night, but if JB can reproduce this level of form again, there's a very good chance he will be.

Johnny, get a digital copy of the photo and zoom in on Elliot's left ear, the pink cast in that area isn't consistent with the natural light in the photo.

Looks like the top of the collar of his shirt, to me.
The image is not of sufficiently high quality to read anything meaningful into whether it's been photoshopped or not - it's pixelated to buggery.
All of those questioning Ronnie’s attitude and character as a guy... i would take his over JB’s.. as far as Im aware, Ronnie never been banned from the game for much skullduggery...
Why does he need to be.? A tin pot event in a tin pot arena on Milton Keynes... he is in the game for entertainment. Wouldn’t have thought this meant anything to him at all. Looks like it means the world to JB though...
I just feel snooker like all sports has become pretty non important, and it’s not a period of time that’s going to live long in the memory. Football results comical during the pandemic, darts, golf and many others having odd results. Pressure non existent without crowds and expectations..
It is quite funny how in under 10 mins he plays snooker that JB could only dream of though...
