Very sad news indeed.

Along with Jimmy White, I would venture to suggest Doug is one of the very best players never to have been World Professional Champion.

Yes, really sad news. He was probably best known for his frilly shirts, but he was also a top-class player - winning a Masters (beat R.Reardon in the final) a UK (beat S.Hendry in the final) and he was a World Championship finalist (beaten by S.Davis). RIP Doug.
