He's on eurosport. The way he says but , the constant negative tone to his voice,he always sounds like he is nagging but he just talks and talks and talks. He never shuts up.

I can't bear him. Why does he commentate for himself and not the audience

Hallett was 8-2 up in the 1991 masters final against hendry and he lost the final 9-8. when hallett got home that night he discovered he had been burgled.

That is  a shame but doesn't justify at all how irritating he is as a commentator.Why can't he just think before he speaks and just be more considered instead of saying every thought in his head.

Agree totally. The most irritating thing is that he sounds as if he has won the WCH at least 20 times... for example "why didn't he play that shot? it was easy!" on a shot yesterday where I think it was Brecel who could have played black into a corner off a red... "could" being the word only in Hallett's mind...nobody would have ever played that shot unless they wanted to commit snooker suicide ... thankfully, I can switch to Czech commentary... until I realize that is even worse than Hallett...okay, maybe not.

"that was a bad shot... oh wait it's fine"

"he's got the snooker... oh wait no he hasn't"

"that's in... oh wait it's missed"

were also multiple occasions where he miscalculated what was left on the table thinking a player would need more than they actually did to win the frame so when someone knocked in a red without playing for a colour he would be oblivious for a moment before realising

so basically what ur saying SIG is he should be on the BBC

Get him and Dennis on together.

Then they could both get excited about a maximum when a yellow had been taken with a red about 10 minutes before.

Who is far worse? I think on the whole there are alot of good commentators. I know people have an issue with Dennis,I like his voice tbh but it's obviously down to more than that. I think there is a alot of variety on the commentators for snooker. Some are colour commentators,some insightful in the abstract sense. I think there need to be a few more genuinely excited commentators though. It doesn't have to be so dull and subdued.

Phil "Anorak man" Yates. Probably a very nice guy, but just cant take the accent, cant get beyond that or the avalanche of useless stats he trots out just to fill the space

Too many ex players wanting a finger in the pie, just because you could hold a cue doesn't mean you are meant for broadcasting your views on it.

In the good old days there was hardly an ex player in the box at all.

haha how could I forget Phil Yates. He is right up there. Haven't heard him so much recently. Usually on Premier League snooker. Dear Lord he can't say a sentence without making it as extravagant as possible. He is laughable. Always trying to use big words .Just talk normally!
