ronnie is head and shoulders above the dog poo we saw tonight and it took hawkins best ever performance of a life time and a bit of luck in final frame to beat him, ding has never ever beaten ronnie in a major and ronnie would have thrashed the fact any final involving selby is a complete borefest

Cracking final Mark Selby best mstchplayer in the game against ding playing like he was 17 again, forget o'sullivan he may not even make it to the worlds next year...

YOur opening post is a joke. Hawkins was a deserving winner over Ronnie and I would listen to arguments that Hawkins was actually the best player of the fortnight. That Ronnie would crush Selby is even more of a joke given what happened 2 years ago. Selby essentially ended Ronnie's Crucible career by exposing his lack of an all round game under severe pressure.

Selby perhaps did end O'Sullivans Crucible career in 2014 Howellsy, that was the feeling after that final for sure.
Ronnie was in a good place against Hawkins, no excuses. It was a high class encounter were Hawkins matched Ronnie for pot success and just out match played him in that final frame.
The stats before that final frame had Ronnie ahead on long potting, safety, points scored, balls potted and equal on pot success of 94%.
Which suggests vital moments in the match went the way of Hawkins.

Ronnie is what the record books say.

Ronnies long game came back with a lot of help from Hearn. It came back in the period when one player did over a hundred centuries in a season.

There is a clue there for the least gullible.

You could tell Ronnie is desperate for Ding to give Selby a good hammering in the final on eurospport last night, he was even getting quite emotional about it, saying how badly the game needed it, fair play to selby and all but nobody wanted to watch that kind of snooker anymore etc You could tell he's still seriously haunted by the 2014 experience and was probably relieved he didnt have to go through it again this year.

Btw nothing against hawkins, but for me this will go down as another failed year for him. Going 0-8 down against Fu, no excuses in the whole wide world for that.

I felt quite angry at what the lads at Eurosport said about the Selby Fu game last night. That last frame was totally gripping for anyone who appreciates proper, hard matchplay snooker. Ok there had been some turgid frames in earlier sessions, but last night's session was what the Crucible is all about, as Parrott and Taylor understood and enhanced with their appreciative commentary. White and Ronnie were embarrassing afterwards. They shouldn't presume that audiences don't like hard snooker towards the end of close matches. Jimmy should bear in mind that Selby has won the world championship.

I agree with that Howellsy. That was one of the best frames of snooker i've seen in ages, I don't think there was one bum shot in it, it was quality from break off to the end. And pointless for Jimmy to decry the miss rule that did for Fu in the end without offering any reasonable alternative to it. The miss rule is there for a very good reason and it was hard lines for Fu that he fell victim to it, but thats the game. If Colin Murray had any knowledge of the sport, he'd have immediately picked Jimmy up on it, but he's more concerned with showing us how great mates they all are rather than asking pertinent questions.

understandable that jimmy bottlejob white wouldn't appreciate hard snooker

Pandora is a 1st class 1diot.

The finalists deserve to be there. Ronnie got KO'd.

Hawkins suffered a huge hangover and nearly won from 0-8. He poss would have won but wd Selby.
Report hitmanhearn May 2, 2016 10:46 PM BST
Reckon Hawkins could of won too. Unlucky really.
Report johnnythebull May 2, 2016 10:49 PM BST
in his mind he won his Olympics beating ronnie
then went AWOL 1st session against Fu
forgetting he had a job of work still to do
missed a golden opportunity to lift the title
not strong enough mentally
