was impressed with McGill in the first round when he beat Murphy.
Looks like a player who is really improving and another victory on the cards V Fu I think.

But be aware appformat - Peter Ebdon said that M.Fu played better than anyone he has ever played against at The Crucible, and Fu himself said that he finally feels ar home playing here. It should be a cracker.

yeah, Fu looks sharp today doesn't he gobelins...
really enjoy watching McGill play, reminds me of a young S Davis when he's flowing.

Fu just had the slightly better B-game today...

I wouldn't give up on A.McGill yet appformat. He trailed S.Murphy by 2 frames and come back to beat him, but those comments about M.Fu from P.Ebdon would have been enough to put me off backing him.

Refreshing to see Fu play, he caresses the ball and doesn't thump it like Trump and a few others.

Same with J.Wattana. No power, all touch and feel, and a lovely way around the table.

Wattana was a pleasure to watch gobelins
He played his part in that Hendry era.

The Thai-phoon could smash them in gobelins.

Fu struggles when power is required, particularly deep screw.

Solid player that will go far, he looks like a 90s player with plenty of substance and how I have missed that.

J.Wattana was a real artist, he potted balls into the middle pockets from anywhere. He could have beaten Hendry in their 1997 World SF. The whole match changed with 1 shot of outrageous good fortune for Hendry deep into the final session.

Never quite the same player after his father was gunned down in his snooker club in his homeland. It happened mid competition here and he bravely played his next match and then went home.
Never underrated by his fellow pro's.

His father was involved with some unsavoury types moondan, i dont know if james was embroiled in all that in any way, but you'd have to wonder. Still a mystery to me why his form plummeted the way it did, one of the great unfulfilled talents of the game in my opinion.

Totally agree. Marco Fu is a genius.

Gentlemen,

Not many did flourish in that era and much to do with that was the 4 greatest players "ever" were at their peak or nearing it. It was tough going to say the least living off the crumbs that Hendry, O'Sullivan, Williams and Higgins scattered for lesser creatures.

Gun law presided over by police and Gangsters alike was par for the course in that part of the world so think you are right to assume he was effected by it if not fully involved.

True enough moondan. All his ranking finals were played against hendry, davis, ronnie, parrott and jimmy, tough competition. Its just a tough story really. Not related to James, but i tend to avoid betting on any matches involving Thai players these days.

This is what I call a proper match, no mugs involved.

Gentlemen,

China must be top of the list, Ding plays some very strange shots at times and vast sums of money are wagered on happenings within frames and results and I am talking vast sums.

Of course I am not saying it is happening but it is a logical conclusion.

You could be right, but have a look at the list of corrupt matches and those with dodgy betting patterns and ask what country comes top. (Hint: it isn't China)

Wattana is a Commander Third Class of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand, only the second sportsman to receive the country's most prestigious civilian honour.

whatever happens in this match, McGill has a very bright future,.
he's getting over his camera-shyness and if he gains a bit of flair he could be another Davis imo.

how has mcgill refused brown or blue and taken green off the cushion . Must have been the worst shot choice on the table . Pots brown or blue just needs to be baulk side to move the yellow and roll up behind the green.....there were so many choices but his head must have gone........
