The ex-husband of Strictly Come Dancing star Willie Thorne's beauty queen wife has told of his heartbreak at losing her to the snooker ace.

Angry Peter Yates saw his dreams of raising his young family with Miss Great Britain Jill Saxby disappear in doublequick time when she waltzed off with Willie.

The shiny-headed star - nicknamed Mr Maximum because of his prowess with a cue - wooed Jill with exotic holidays and expensive gifts including a £15,000 Ford Probe car during a troubled spell in her marriage.

And Peter's bitter memories came flooding back as he watched Willie, 53, do well on the hit BBC1 show with partner Erin Boag last weekend.

Pouring his heart out to a close pal, single Peter, 62, said: "I could only stomach seeing him on the show for a few seconds before I had to switch the TV off. I could feel myself boiling over.

"Thorne waltzed off with my wife and kids and I was left with nothing. Even now it still hurts.

"He never even had the guts to say sorry. The emotional scars will never heal."

Big Willie, who defied bookies' predictions that he would be the first to be voted off the latest show, wowed judges with his smooth routine with ballroom professional Erin, 32 - watched in the audience by delighted Jill, 48.

But Peter, married to the flamehaired beauty for 11 years, could only fume as he recalled how the star...

Wooed his wife after meeting her at the snooker world championships in Sheffield where she was a hospitality hostess.

Flattered her with his millionaire status and celebrity lifestyle as one of snooker's top stars.

Moved her into a lovenest despite knowing she was still married.

Peter, a pub landlord in his home city Sheffield, told his mate: "Willie Thorne swans around the dance floor as though butter wouldn't melt in his mouth but I can never forgive him for what he did."

Peter married Jill in a blaze of publicity in Sheffield shortly after she won the Miss GB title in 1985.

They had a daughter and son and lived in a smart four-bedroom detached house in Dronfield on the edge of the beautiful Peak District.

Peter told his pal: "I worked hard to give us a good lifestyle and gave Jill everything she wanted."

But by 1994 the marriage was in trouble - and in April that year Jill met Willie at the world championships at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre where she was waiting on the stars.

Peter told his friend: "We had split temporarily but Jill knew I wanted to make a go of the marriage for the sake of our kids.

"Then Willie came on the scene. I couldn't compete with him. He dazzled her. He's not the world's best looking guy but he had fame and charisma.

"How the hell was I supposed to stop her? I found out through a friend she was seeing Willie and broke down in tears with my head in my hands. My children were only eight and five at the time and all I wanted in the world was for us to be a family."

Within weeks of meeting Thorne, Jill and her children had moved into a lovenest near the star's home city of Leicester.

Peter told his mate: "What made it worse was that neither Jill or Willie had the decency to tell me they were moving in together.

"Again I found out through a friend. My life was torn apart.

"It was all so sudden. Imagine how that made me feel - totally worthless."

Peter had to financially support his children despite them living with their mother and her lover.

He told his pal: "There was no way Iwould have stopped our kids from living with their mum but it tore me apart emotionally and financially.

"Although I saw them regularly I missed out on a large chunk of their lives thanks to Jill moving in with Willie.

"Thankfully Jill and I get on these days but I can never ever forgive Thorne." Two years after meeting Willie, Jill and Peter divorced, citing irreconcilable differences.

Peter told his pal: "Once Willie came on the scene there was no way back. I was left alone, broke and without a family."

Peter's friend told The People: "Seeing Willie back on a huge show like Strictly has reopened old wounds.

"Peter can't forgive him for what happened. The sooner he's voted off the show the better for Peter.

"Willie trades on this bumbling middle-aged man routine who pretends he's just some big oaf on the dance floor with two left feet. But he's anything but. He knows if he does well in the show it will send his profile soaring again and earn him some decent money."

Last week Willie was told by judge Craig Revel-Horwood: "For a stout man you are really light on your feet."

Former top 10 player Thorne, who notched up an amazing 190 maximum 147 breaks on the snooker table, has had a chequered love life.

He left his first wife FionaWalker and children for shop assistant Denise Foster in 1990. He has also had massive financial problems. Five years ago he tried to commit suicide after racking up huge gambling debts.

Thorne, who is best pals with soccer star Gary Lineker, was also struggling to pay alimony to Fiona and was declared bankrupt.

After swallowing 30 sleeping pills he was discovered by Jill and rushed into hospital.

He recalled at the time: "There was no excuses but I was sick of lying and cheating. I owed the best part of 90 grand in gambling debts."

Thorne and Jill, who latermarried now live in a smart house in Broughton Astley, Leics, with Peter's children Natalie, 19 and James, 16.

Yesterday when we approached Peter at his pub he refused to comment saying: "You can't turn back the clock so I have nothing to say."

When we contacted Thorne he insisted: "They'd been split up for six months."

I could never do that to a man and his family -   Willy it is not your family , you stole it ... RANCID BEHAVIOUR

What do you expect from a guy who reckoned that after he won the mercantile credit in 85 he was the second best player in the world, who happily carried around the "maximum man" tag for years despite 99% of them being practice breaks,, do doubt set up accordingly, and who now spends his time telling us where the players of today are going wrong with their shot selection. One look at Thornes cue action and you'll realise he was nothing more than a decent player, who had no long game to speak of and was hopeless under pressure. In his book we're treated to such nonsense as him being offered a bribe before his Masters match v Joe Johnson, and how he reckoned it would look bent because he would never lose to Joe Johnson (Johnson won 5-4), statements like that make it difficult to take a guy serious, and just for the record Willie, Johnson was a superior player to you.

I think the salient detail is the man and his wife had been separated for SIX MONTHS. It happens all the time. This is just pathetic, self pitying tabloid whining.

OLD News but new to some I suppose. Never forget was walking down a busy beach in N wales and looked up and was blinded by the sun bouncing of his bonce. It was Willy right infront of me. Never forget it he does stand out when you see him and his fame and charm I suppose he could pull a fair bird.

Why did he have to get a bird who had kids and had recently split ??

He knew what he was doing -   I couldn't do that to somebody

Maybe he had never felt that powerful love that you have for your family and couldn't care less
