They've played each other 13 times, Murphy winning 10 times to Binghams 2, with one match drawn.
The last time Bingham beat Murphy was in the 2011 Australian Open, with his only other victory over him in the 2005 Grand Prix.
Bingham has done amazingly well getting to his first World Championship Final. But I just can't see him getting past Murphy in his current form.
Im expecting Shaun to dominate the match and show his experience of having been here before for a comfortable win.
My bet for the Final is Murphy -2.5 Frames at 5/6

It's always great when O'Sullivan is not involved in a final. The interviews and presentation go much cleaner

That was a stunning final.
Bingham's century break where the white ball was in the wrong place throughout, the 64 minute frame with Murphy conceding 30 points in fouls, the resolute calmness of The Butcher to close it all out. Fantastic.

Grant, I would have been a bit worried for him mentally if he had lost that. Would have destroyed him for a long time imo. But imagine the confidence he will go forward with now. Being announced as the world champ every tournament is sure to stick a poker up your @rse.

Fantastic final, had just about everything except the post-midnight finish which is the preserve of the truly special matches. Only for that pesky Smurph going into kamikaze mode in the last frame we might even have got that too 
Anyone else think that Murph looked a bit desperate out there those last few frames? The ROYS ROLLS cue action came up a bit short on some of those desperate attempts at long pots, and at times I think he looked a bit lost in the white heat of a safety duel.

Dont know if this stat has been mentioned, but you have to go back to the 2007 final for one of the finalists to not be someone Bingham has beat this year.

Controled himself after the interval, got back into the match, but then just went for broke in the last 2, def in the last. Bingham let nothing affect, just the same frame after frame. That break with only the colours up the table was something else in such an important frame.
Yes Grant and this year will hurt him, expect the naughty snooker to cool off before next years WC.
Hendry couln`t even beat Stephen Lee who **** losing the opening two frames.

I dont think Trump will ever win it myself. Just don't think he's the right type of player to win a worlds.
Bingham's unlikely victory will clear the path for other journeymen to follow in his footsteps last year. Joe Perry is the obvious winner next year.
Judd's immaturity has cost him again. A bit of perspective and less of the showboating and he can win many titles. Ronnie showing signs of coming to an end, Murphy, Robbo, Selby all have their crucial failings if Judd can wise up he can become unstoppable.
I think Joe has maybe 0.1% more of a chance than Jimmy of ever winning it. So 0.1%.
Judd has not peaked yet, he might have done if he had changed his ways at 22. He will now and knuckle down plus show maximum respect for table and opponent.

I jest about joe, but still say that bingham's victory will be a lightning rod for a lot of players to think if he can do it and i work as hard as him, no reason why i couldn't be world champ too. If Ronnie is gone there isn't such a gap there at the top anymore either. Judd's a great talent, but no reason for any player to fear him like they did ronnie. Interesting few years ahead i think.

Great final. Delighted for Bingham. Had everything. Both looked gone at one stage. Felt Murphy had him and started to tie it up when he should have gone for it. He went for it to much late on when it wasn't on. Murphy i think would have won if he just went for it when it was on. He won three frames and then got into safety mode when pots where on. Then pushed the boat out when it was not there. Fine margins but what a great final both players played great. One of the most enjoyable finals in a long while. And fair play to murphy class act in his speech.
Murphy did inadvertently make a bit of a howler during the speech did he not?

Do you mean the "doesn't deserve it any more" comment...was a bit of a tongue twister but i think he got it right in the end.
Binghams was a bigger clanger, elevating Ronnie and Judd over Smurph but the latter took it well and made a good joke about it.
I simply could not see him carrying it through, even with a frame to go.

I wouldn't be all surprised to see Stuart win more titles. Top player and nerves of steel. Well done him he's was superb.

I had to go to bed before the epic hour long frame as i had to work at 3am. Just watched the finish on iPlayer. Amazing scenes at the end. Thoroughly deserved. He had to be ruthless a grafter this tournament, he had to become The Butcher. He also entertained and hit some very creative shots at key times. Well done Stuart!
