Speed is crippling, and happens now and then

Fourms  + number of threads

Football forum -211,164
Horse racing forum - 212,557
Cricket forum - 8,541
Other horse racing 15,000 +
Tennis forum - 36,962
Golf forum - 14,098
Australian - 10,124
Snooker - 3,669
Greyhounds - 12,453
Rugby - 6,326
Poker - 6,831
Darts -4,960
General Betting - 8,863
Specials -  5,065
Other Sports - 17,000+
Chit chat - 67,393

Plus some others that amounts to more than HALF A MILLION THREADS

And many of them are filled up with PICTURES AND PHOTOS that slows speed down

Surely it's time to delete most of these by forum upgrade and least give it a try, no point having that many redundant threads, I'm no tech expert but how many websites have that many pages with pictures?

It makes me switch off the site tbh

A reply would be nice, thanks

I doubt having lots of old threads makes things slow if they've done things properly, no more than reading todays newspaper is slowed down by having 10,000 old ones piled nearby like some mad hoarder.

Oddly enough I read the other day that Facebook are creating some data centre to archive allllll their old data (and we're talking very large amounts), that will have marginally slower access than recent stuff but still be there.

AyersRock - I know there were issues with speed last week, but I am assured by the partner that builds the forums that the number of pages/images etc has no bearing on that. I will continue to check though, and if if there is ever any indication that archiving some may help, we'll take action.

ok mate thanks for the reply, like I say I am no technology expert, I just thought a clearout would help, i think the forum had an upgrade about 3 years ago so im told, not sure if that changed things then though I wasn't around, cheers anyway!

How about deleting all the apology threads for breakdowns, that should get rid of a few thousand.
