He was not to blame for the second half score though. England sent on 3 subs, they all gave away daft penalties within 5 minutes which were all converted. Complete shower. The first half was a travesty-even the Welsh players didn't think they would be awarded those tries.

It used to be only a few yeas ago that if you saw the ref was French you'd be pretty much guaranteed that at least the scrums would be decently reffed and they would get most things right. That was a shower of sheyt from the whole French team, from seemingly not knowing the knock on laws to the tv ref intervening when clearly no need. Can't blame Wales who haven't played and differently since they had the losing streak and may well go down in history as the worst team to win a grand slam at this rate

World Rugby considers Gaüzère to be one of its leading referees and regards his weekend performance as an off day.
And therein lies the problem with every sport. someone up high makes a decision that a certain ref/umpre is or will be the best in the world/or even just league and from that point on thye become a worse official. This one was ok a few years back but has been bad pretty much everytime I've seen him in the last few years but he knows he can get away with it or his debrief, at the very least, will be easier than it should be. He's been promoted from touch judge in 1 game to ref in another depots this performance after all. The football ref in the liverpool game a few weeks back who didn't bother looking at var properly is another 1 tipped for greatness who now knows he can pretty much ref how he wants without any comeback

He made a big error for first try, and it got to him.
Hope he learns.
Good to see he has fessed up to at least 2 of his errors.
One of the late 3 pens was ridiculous, and another came after a clear foul on England player in which the England player was shouting please sir, to attract touch judge, it was clear on tv but never replayed.
Ref has previous in eng Wales games, odd that he got game
