it seems free speech is under threat on this site now.
whoever posted initially please repost it so we can discuss it again.

Yeah it was my thread, you'd think at least one other person had money on the market in these forums. They just mailed me saying this is how it is basically. Betfair don't have customer service, it's just basically an apology and not looking into the problem.

For anyone who didn't see it, I backed  Ulster with he sportsbook at 8/15 and they settled it at 1/3, I had to chase up for info they just settled it like that and didn't even notify me. They didn't explain it either, just said an issue with prices in the game. The exchange was offering better odds but with no really money in the market. Where they got the 1/3 i've no idea

Was that pre kick off , Sabu ?  I was away over the weekend , but 1/3 Ulster seems a very skinny price unless it was in running .
Report Ozymandius April 27, 2015 3:47 PM BST
The price pre-kick off was in the region of 1/2 to 4/7 as I recall, so 8/15 would appear right.

They don't like it up 'em.

1/3 pre match seems like an absolute con then given what other bookies were offering.

What is BF's line on this?
Report Blackwater April 27, 2015 7:40 PM BST
Similar thing happened to me last year. Had 300 on total points on the Eng/It match (needed 40+). Bet placed the day before the game and everything seemingly in order.

Made up at 63.

After the match, they just voided the bet.

So, however batshit-crazy the price, Sabu, maybe you should just be grateful they settled it as a winner.

I've had loads of issues with rugby markets in particular on the sportsbook. Any time I've contacted the helpdesk all that's come back is a load of unresponsive blather about 'third-party providers.'

I just don't use them any more.

Be happy they settled it as a winner? it was in running when the scores where 10-10, but the odds on the exchange where better than 8/15 so nothing seemed odd about it, where they pulled out 1/3 i've no idea and no explanation offered bar sorry.

Of course if we make a mistake on the exchange it just tough t*tty.
Report Blackwater April 28, 2015 8:18 PM BST
The only constructive thing I can suggest, Sabu, is that you get back in touch with BF and ask them to check the last price matched on the exchange prior to your bet being struck.

If the exchange price was in the region of 1.5 or better then at least you would have something solid to take to IBAS for arbitration.

Good luck.

Nothing will come of it. Must be something going on with the moon some of the stuff that's happening to me gambling wise, I had 150e on Harry Kane to be young player of the year with powers. Use to check it everytime I was on I use to check the "my bets" and it was there. Now there's no evidence of the bet ever being placed. They are looking further into the matter, which means do nothing then message my tomorrow saying the looked into it, nothing there and sorry.
Report Ozymandius April 30, 2015 12:00 AM BST
Geez. Do you remember what date you placed it?  Can you check with your bank and let PP know time of the deposit (if there was a related deposit?) and see if they can trace it that way?

You didn't place it in the 'Player of the Year' market by accident or some other similar market?
Report northanlite April 30, 2015 8:22 AM BST
that paddy bet should be able to be traced. if you made a deposit to place it then that would be clear & obvious & they would have to explain what it went on.
if it came out of an existing balance then you will have a 150 hole in your running balance as opposed to your betting history.
it might be a hassle but if you are sure you placed the bet correctly and you have not seen €150 refunded any time then the stake money must have gone somewhere.
obviously making a print out of anti-post bets would be wise (isn't hindsight great)

I know what happened the whole rugby markets crashed that night . So the pre matchs odds were available up until the 70 th minute. I noticed this put 2 bets on over first half points@5/6 when it was nearly already in, stupid really i knew they wouldn't pay out cos the prices were wrong thought they would void. After 2 days thet paid me out at what would have been the correct odds1/10. What was really annoying is I had an acca win where ulster were in and was placed at 7 before the markets got fooked up and it took them 3 days to settle it. So when you placed the bet @1/2 the pre match odds market was up the odds never went in play.
Report Sabu April 30, 2015 9:58 PM BST
Just seemed that since the exchange was offering better odds, but as I said earlier the liquidity wasn't there. Where they pulled 1/3 from? when it was 10-10.

I couldn't print out all my bets, i've done screenshots before but I bet frequently and normally heavy, never expected an issue like that. Proper twilight zone sort of thing.
