You pay income tax on the income you generate imo.

Do public sector employees actually pay income tax / NI or does society just pay their net wages ?

PAYE we never had it. Similar to my SalSac pension, it's paid by my employer on my behalf, I never see the cash. So I'd argue the employer pays IT when PAYE is the process.

I imagine SE is a lot more painful, having to set aside your tax liability (unless you're a famous jockey!)

What if the government were to tax sex?  A sort of PAYF, if you will.

Would the public take it lying down?

If it was put forward, it would surely trigger a mass debate.

Would there be relief for single men?

I think it could work.  What red-blooded man wouldn't want to be in the highest tax band?

You mean like private contractors and companies who rely on publicly funded contracts?

They'd still spunk away all the cash, nick.

You think that if there were no income tax then the hourly rates would reflect this?

Sorry, can you please rephrase that?

They would have to increase the sale tax, or tariffs to make up for it.

We suffer income tax, pretty much sums it up

Unless you dodge it by legal means or otherwise.

You would only not pay tax if you are not expecting to win. I always pay 10% up front so it doesn't come off my winnings.

Not worth you paying it upfront.
