Many people in the USA thought of Trump as being a wonderful businessman who supposedly being very pro business would quickly work wonders. Many were eager to buy shares which boosted the stock market indexes. Do many regret that now?
Now consider a pretty old businessman with many years making investments called Warren Buffett, who is probably many times richer than Trump. Long term that might not be true as a favourable comment here about Buffett is that unlike Trump he seems to have empathy for the many people struggling in life and he has been steadily giving away billion to charities, with more money to follow. Anyhow, the main point I want to make here is that he was shrewd enough to realise that many shares in essence were becoming over valued and could at some time fall. He also realised that Trump being elected and following his likely policies would probably cause a fall in share prices. So over time Buffett had been taking advantage of his thoughts and had been steadily selling many stocks and holding the cash before the likely fall in share prices he was expecting.
Perhaps it's a pity that somebody with the experience, shrewd mind and calm demeanor like Warren Buffett is not running America. Here it's worth remembering that a number of the companies Trump - this supposed wonderful businessman as he likes to describe himself - have failed.
