Just been doing a lot of reading onto this lately, apparently Jill was promiscuous and had many lovers, that opens the door to a lot more suspects. I could never go with the Serbian hitman theory , way too amateurish in the way it was done. Barry George was a harmless simpleton who was fitted up. The person who killed her had to know she was going back to her house unplanned that day, that means a close acquaintance.

George was far from being the simpleton.

Handguns were banned in 1997. So they were pretty rare in the UK in 1999.

Dando was shot in the head at point blank range with a bullet from a 9mm pistol. A classic professional  assassination tool. Small, quiet and very deadly when unloaded to the head.

Where would a ret*rd like George get a 9mm semi automatic pistol from?

Well known to have been a bit of a floosy, plenty of articles. Read one where she said when she first came to London she was seeing around 3 men a week.

It's possible it was Barry George, they found pictures of him brandishing a gun and found a spec of gunpowder in his pocket, it's also possible given he has personality disorders which in turns means that some if not all memories of one personality might not transfer to another, i.e. he genuinely has no recollection of what he'd done when in his natural state. By all accounts one of his personalities' did have an obsession with here going by witness statements. He also had a long history of sexual violence, stalking and attempted rape so no sympathy for being given no compensation upon release. Nick Ross is just an complete guesser putting together a lot of circumstantial evidence and coming to a conclusion, it's natural though for him to be adamant because it's human nature to want closure on traumatic events and there's no one else in the fray apart from a phantom Serbian hitman.

Would be very hard for anyone to get away with a doorstep killing these days especially in London, there's just over a million CCTV cameras which you're caught on about 70 times a day on average and God knows how many ring door bells and dash cams along with people casually filming on their mobile phones, in 1999 there would have been a fraction of that total number. Especially difficult to get away with it around Fulham which is a central, affluent area with many homeowners making use of modern tech to prevent burglaries etc.

Kind Regards.

From wiki:

Forensic study indicated that Dando had been shot by a bullet from a 9mm Short calibre semi-automatic pistol, with the gun pressed against her head at the moment of the shot. The cartridge appeared to have been subject to workshop modification, possibly to reduce its charge. Richard Hughes, her next-door neighbour, heard a scream from Dando ("I thought it was someone surprising somebody") but heard no gunshot. Hughes looked out of his front window and, while not realising what had happened, made the only certain sighting of the killer — a six-foot-tall (183 cm) white man aged around 40, walking away from Dando's house.
Report i_agree_with_nick March 9, 2025 1:20 PM GMT
Also from wiki:

Lines of inquiry explored in the police investigation included:

Theories that a jealous ex-boyfriend or an unknown lover had killed Dando. This was quickly ruled out by the detectives who interviewed all Dando's friends and acquaintances and checked her phone calls.

He had joined the Territorial Army, training with the 10th Battalion Parachute Regiment at White City. He enlisted under the name S F Majors and completed 29 days' training.

The training did not cover pistols but late in 1982, while still with the TA, he joined Kensington and Chelsea Pistol Club as a probationary member, named Steve Majors.

He completed eight periods of pistol shooting, but in September that year his application for full membership was refused.

In November the TA also rejected him as unsuitable, but in his fantasy world instead of shedding his Army uniform he elevated himself to the elite corps of fighting soldiers, the SAS.

He told whoever would listen that he was Thomas Palmer, the hero who led the storming of the Iranian embassy in London in 1980.

Now came the Kensington Palace incident in January 1983, when he was discovered in the grounds with the Rambo-size hunting knife and simply sent home.

By now guns and the Army were a fixation. He wore khakis in public, bought specialist military magazines, and showed acquaintances guns he kept in his flat.

He built up a huge collection of magazines, photos of the famous and articles from newspapers that police were later to discover.

George had been through several personality phases, and more were to come, but the Army and guns were to remain a constant.

In 1986 he mimicked his SAS hero Thomas Palmer's finest hour by staging a bizarre 'raid' on the home of a friend from school called David Dobbins.

The Dobbins family lived in South Kensington and one evening there was a knock on the door. It was George, in combat gear and balaclava, and he charged in holding a pistol and fired a shot.

When the panic subsided they realised it was a blank.

By now he was increasingly filling his jobless days by pestering women in Holland Park in West London. He carried flowers and a 12in hunting knife tucked in the leg pocket of his Army trousers.

One female acquaintance, Susan Coombe, said George (whom she knew as Tom Palmer) would try to 'chat them up or he would follow them to see where they lived'.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- March 9, 2025 4:44 PM GMT
Twenty-four hours after the murder, an anonymous woman had called police about an oddball who was 'very strange' and 'mentally unstable', and lived in Crookham Road.

She said he possessed air weapons and possibly a crossbow - but she didn't give his name.

At the time police were being overwhelmed by calls about 'unknown males' who could be suspects and, with no specific information about George's background, treated the call as 'low priority'.

Over the following six weeks, police received a further four calls from members of the public who gave information about a man's odd behaviour on the day of the murder.

Two of the callers did not name the individual, but two identified him as Barry Bulsara (George's fake identity).

A detective went around to George's flat eight times but got no reply.

It's all circumstantial, and I think, whilst he is a good suspect, the
jury were right to find him not guilty. The gunshot residue matching the
shot fired wasn't admissable at retrial, as there is a chance it got put
there by accident, and apparently there is a 1 in 100 chance any of us
test positive for gunshot residue.

forensic examination of the shell case and bullet recovered from the scene of the attack suggested that the weapon used had been the result of a workshop conversion of a replica or decommissioned gun. It was argued that a professional assassin would not use such a poor quality weapon. The police therefore soon began to favour the idea that the killing had been carried out by a crazed individual acting on an opportunist basis. This assumed profile of the perpetrator lead to the focus on Barry George.
