I think the reason many on here hate trump is because he is a rapist according to a judge and jury who listened to all the evidence.
He's a nonce. People are hero worshipping a nonce.
Report edy March 7, 2025 6:50 PM GMT
He is first and foremost out to be detrimental to Europe and the USA. Now, we can all have different priorities and that's perfectly fine, but as a patriot and convinced transatlanticist I value my country and the transatlantic partnership above memes.

Shoes are not the issue. You can get slip ons and long shoe horns.

The real issue will be putting your socks on!

doing my shoe laces up became a major problem last summer when i got arthritis in my neck and a bone spur which presses up against the nerve that runs all the way down my left arm causing intense pain up to my thumb. it was agony, the double knot was a must. fortunately after a month and lots of increases in medication dosage it is controlled. if you had told me that putting on trainers and doing up shoelaces would be a major achievement i would never have believed you, but it was. getting old sucks. i am 56.

With your tender age of 53 you are plenty enough of a spring chicken for fabulously awesome virtual and alternate reality headsets or even glasses to be available when you are in the care home. You won't even notice your buttocks is getting wiped by another man as you are enjoying your virtual trip to a local pond to feed the ducklings.

I would (and have for a long time) spend a few quid on an osteopath before sinking lots of painkillers.
Report Whisperingdeath March 9, 2025 10:28 AM GMT
Do sit ups

It will be cheaper and better for you an your back
Report saddo March 10, 2025 10:48 AM GMT
Great advice, you know as much about backs as your average GP, next to nothing.
In many cases a (good) osteopath will find the problem, fix it, and with interval treatment
will stop it recurring. I used to go every 8 weeks for years, sometimes it's 6 now.
I was in agony for years long ago and knew if I took tablets I wouldn't stop.

Report Whisperingdeath March 10, 2025 10:57 AM GMT
I know more about backs than your average GP and more about knee's and cartilage!

I know more about how to avoid Covid than those 3 so called experts who held meetings with 100 journalists in a cramped room then banned us from going out in the sun and getting fresh air!

Think I've reached the age where my body's starting to let me down.

I've long had a slightly dodgy hip due to a childhood illness. Been back in the gym quite a bit, but realise my days of running are probably over. But last week I did a virtual body combat thing. Basically a cross between aerobics and doing sparring type punches and kicks into mid air. Still got pain in my hips and still hobbling over a week later! I used to do actual karate ffs, now I can't even do a front kick in case my leg falls off!

My back problems are old injuries wd, nothing to do with shoes.
The one at the base was caused by being kneed into the back of
a Police van by one officer while two others held my arms.
I probably deserved roughing up but not a damaged spine.

Regarding shoes though, I've had a lot of problems with toes rubbing
the last few months, and simply moving up a size doesn't always help.
I have to find wide toe box shoes.
I've never heard the term before and don't know why my feet have grown.

I know more about Covid but I am fully boosted!
Report Whisperingdeath March 10, 2025 11:34 AM GMT
Yeah,

The initial problem would not have been eased by loads of sit up t'is true!

Sit ups do help with lower back. A weak stomach does not help a weak back.

With regard to shoes I used to wear Church. Bloody marvelous shoes stopped leg pain , sciatica and back pain. Shoes and beds worth every penny!

With regard to your feet I have moved up a size. You can also get insoles which might help but you might well need wide toes style. Look it up on the internet. Must be several people with the same issues. I notice cricketers make a hole for the big toe which is really soopid! The shoes should be held tightly round the middle to stop the foot sliding forward and crunching the toe. Few things more uncomfortable than a long day in toe crunchers!
Report Whisperingdeath March 10, 2025 11:38 AM GMT
further if you have has a lot of back pain it is highly likely you have weak stomach and lower back muscles as you would be restricted doing exercise. If you cant do proper sit up then you should start with seated leg raises. For all of us getting old core is so important and if that is weak everything else is likely top be.
Report saddo March 10, 2025 11:40 AM GMT
My second toe is a fraction bigger than the big toe, the big toe nail causes callouses
on the side of the second toe. Never been a problem until recently.
I did a few weeks work last summer, steelies were compulsory and I was kneeling
a lot. I think I was kneeling badly and the toes were forced down into the toecaps too much.
Only guessing.

Again on the boots front I suggest you get an a professionally prepared insole but the boots need to be done up tight round the ankle to stop your foot slipping otherwise it will be misery.
