I think with the focus on finding money for defence spending the time may be coming for some radical action. The ballpark has clearly changed since they were elected and suddenly they have to find several billions to get our armed forces up to any kind of level. They generally have cross party support for how they've handled Ukraine and the need to defend ourselves so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a relatively quick announcement that they are having to raise taxes or maybe create a new wealth tax on the rich.

Listening to some pundit on R4 this morning, Seems the massive rise in sickie skivers was/is caused by the change from Unemployment Benefit, Social Security & Sickness Benefit to a single system of Universal Credit.
It bought sickness benefit into the job centre.
I'm guessing prior to Universal Credit, a person would have to claim sickness benefit from a different office with different dedicated procedures, checks & balances.
