It's much more efficient to just suicide people instead of having them fight their death sentence for 2-3 decades at enormous cost for the state.

Not sure it's really worth the hassle and costs. At least in the USA it doesn't seem to be scary for people with their quite high murder rate. A murder rate that tends to be higher in the states with active death penalty even (though admittedly, maybe the populations in these often deep red states are simply more murderous and would murder even more without death penalty).

The thing about the death penalty is it's so effective. Hardly any serious crime in the US since it was implemented.

I doubt a referendum would pass it and how much "taxpayers money" would be wasted in organising it, i'd imagine it would be a big cost. The issue regarding firing squads to shoot people, who is taking apart ? When the see careers officer at school,if that is still a job, what do you want to be when you grow up ? Play for Liverpool, Dr, Lawyer, Nurse, Bricklayer, Joiner, I doubt there be many people aspiring to be part of a firing squad |

It's also an interesting point on miscarriage of justice. It could make it harder to get a conviction if there was death penalty for certain crimes, Scotland has obviously the not proven verdict, doesn't mean you are innocent, but the Crown hasn't made it's case sufficiently to prove guilt.

They always say one soldier on the firing squad gets a blank round so no one knows who fired the kill shots. In practice of course they would know because of the lack of recoil and different sound so the soldiers probably knew whether they had fired a live round or not.

They use machine guns Kiddie fiddlers particularly get what they deserve, driven to a football stadium then tied to a post or hoisted by a crane, the relatives of the victims are allowed to batter them with sticks and whips. They are then hoisted onto a truck and are shot by machine gun in front of baying mobs. I might suggest to the islamaphobes on here that maybe convicted members of grooming gangs be deported to Afghanistan for summary Sharia justice.
