Watched The Unforgiven before. Planning to watch loads more of his over the next couple of weeks. Probably my favourite actor. He just brought every character to life.

carbon monoxide poisoning was mentioned at an early stage, not sure if that is still what the police are suspecting.
Report A_T February 28, 2025 9:14 PM GMT
The Conversation perhaps my favourite of his

Just so good as Bill Daggett in The Unforgiven. A complete bastard who thought he was the good guy till the very end. Pitch perfect performance.

Try 'Night Moves' and 'Scarecrow'.
Report PorcupineorPineapple February 28, 2025 10:07 PM GMT
Yeah, watched Scarecrow years ago. Bit flawed but two of the all time greatest on their way up elevate it.

French connection is one of my favourite films. Not so keen on sequel.

The Conversation and Missisippi Burning my favourite films of his.

He was brilliant in Unforgiven and it's a brilliant film but it also had the benefit of a few other greats in that film.

The Surviving dogs must have been in a Bad way

If dogs were hungry they would eat what was available.

If that was poisoned meat, by suicide, then dog may have poisoned itself
Report Whisperingdeath March 2, 2025 11:44 AM GMT
Dogs would not eat their owners like cats. They would literally sit by their master and die. She may have taken pills in her grief
Report the old nanny ;-) March 2, 2025 1:39 PM GMT
Doors were open two of the dogs were able to come and go ,not sure why the other was not

Bottle of pills by his wifes body , seems Gene died and she took the Pills

or that is  how it appears , very sad story
Report the old nanny ;-) March 2, 2025 1:41 PM GMT
Maybe the 3rd dog was Elderly and she took him with them

both said to have died from natural causes but the deaths were a week apart, the wife died first.

they say he had alzheimer's so maybe he wasnt aware of what had happened?

no foul play.
Report edy March 7, 2025 9:54 PM GMT
Might not have been able to take his heart medicine with her dead or not take it as would have been appropriate.
Report jollyswagman March 7, 2025 10:11 PM GMT
sorry i have misreported somewhat, i was half asleep listening to the tv.

the wife had a rare infectious disease.
Report the old nanny ;-) March 7, 2025 10:33 PM GMT
how bad was his dementia surely not that bad he wouldnot  have contacted someone , unless he was Late stage .In which case understandale , Tragic Sad
Report the old nanny ;-) March 7, 2025 10:35 PM GMT
Hackman was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease, and it's "quite possible" he was not aware that his wife died a week earlier.Sad Now makes sense
Report Whisperingdeath March 8, 2025 9:29 AM GMT
What does not make sense is that neither of his two daughters intervened nor the local “ community “. Two weeks!

Sad way to go.

One dog was post surgery , so caged . Chances of Hantavirus 0.0001% - I could be wrong 300 deaths in USA
Report Facts March 8, 2025 1:14 PM GMT
Presumably the caged dog wasn't fed/watered after Hackman's wife died !
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- March 8, 2025 1:21 PM GMT
They had a pest problem, as it was pest man that found them

Rodent borne virus might fit.
