Usually US economic pain is cushioned by falling bond yields and a strengthening dollar, which mean lower interest rates and more spending power for consumers.

This time we’re seeing the opposite, meaning the pain will be amplified.

Basically what normally happens is investors think “Stocks are too risky now, so let’s shift into US bonds and the dollar, which are a safer bet because America is a stable and well-run country with a good handle on its deficit and inflation.”

This time? Not so much.

I'm strongly taking neither of those options ta very much

First of all, we all know or should know that the market is not the economy. Further, markets at record highs mean very little for the majority of Americans nor for that matter the billions of other folk on the globe who aren't able to invest in such assets. They're more distracted by paying down debt, covering rent and feeding their families. Great for the middle classes and above sure but if you're gauging a country's success by it's indices levels then I suggest you delve a little deeper from hereon.

And as for the strongest it has ever been .. well that's just pure nonsense. What are you basing that on and where have you been for the past five years ? If you say employment stats for example then again I would suggest a closer look might help. Standard of living has been nosediving the past decade and on a steady decline from as far back as the 1970's - increasing inequality with social and economic problems. Economic indicators have become more and more obfuscated in order to paint a pretty picture and keep the ball up.

Stop equating monetary expansion driven bubble assets with success.

And that's where the problem lies - monetary expansion - alongside negligence, greed and in other words corruption.

The USA has been heading for a debt and/or currency crisis for decades and especially since 1971. All fiat based on debt and debauched by excess eventually comes to an end - it has a shelf life - they die and sometimes empires with them.

My understanding is that by leaving the Gold Standard and going nuclear with new debt creation was always going to have to end at some point - you simply cannot print to infinity without the monetary system breaking ie inflation and this is where edy get's me wrong slightly.

The powers that really be, and by that I mean the Federal Reserve, supporting banks plus corporate/gov lackeys and others , would have to plan for the demise of the system - not just the reserve dollar.

Trump aint making the moves - it's been a Wall St government ever since I can remember and it's not gonna change now

This can still go a multitude of directions, too many variables to nail, but what I will call and have called on here since 2021 is the final years of the system that we all know and were all born to.
Report Ronaldmcdonald April 22, 2025 8:16 PM BST

CBS News entered a new period of turmoil on Tuesday after the executive producer of “60 Minutes,” Bill Owens, said that he would resign from the long-running Sunday news program because he had lost his journalistic independence.

In an extraordinary declaration, Mr. Owens — only the third person to run the program in its 57-year history — told his staff in a memo that “over the past months, it has become clear that I would not be allowed to run the show as I have always run it, to make independent decisions based on what was right for ‘60 Minutes,’ right for the audience.”

I'm using the metrics that are commonly used to describe a strong economy, The metrics used by economists and politicians to point at and claim the economy is strong.

I.E.
Economic growth percent
Rising or stable stock markets
Low inflation
Low or stable interest rates.

These figures were all pointing at "Strong Economy" before Trump came in and started expressing his intention to invade Canada, Greenland and Panama. And then started a trade war with the rest of the world.

Now all these metrics are pointing at "Weak Economy" and recession.

What metrics are you using instead of the commonly used metrics?
