Err, that just pushes up prices, and rent as landlords have huge reserves.
Outbidding buyers forces buyers to pay higher rent, if they bid up property and landlords pay more then the upshot is higher rent for losing bidder.

If landlords are indeed outbidding buyers then the buyers needs to bid more
No. The government needs to slash tax relief for landlords or even things up by reintroducing MIRAS for the workers

So basically tax payers pick up yet another bill, and the sh1tehole properties remain just that, because it's not worthwhile for a speculator to get involved.

What costs do you think landlords should not be able to deduct ?
They pay stamp duty , and their loan interest is already restricted. If there is little prospect of a profit then the money moves elsewhere.
Consequently plenty are giving up the game and leaving their dough in the bank for an easy 5%. Properties needing TLC lie empty or are not refurbished - How does that help the family looking for a nice place to live when there is already a housing shortage ?

When rental properties are dumped on the market, rental prices in the area go up. Eventually the yield will still make it viable eventually, in spite of the severe taxation and legislation.

Yes it should moderate the selling price of property. Property has been pretty stagnant since interest rates normalised. Though there are multiple factors impacting house prices, rental is more directly correlated with local supply and demand.

Labour didn't rebuild Britain in 1964 in the white heat of technology.
Never underestimate the effect John, Paul, George and Ringo had on Britain back then.

We want to discourage non-smokers & young people from taking up vaping.
From 1 Oct 2026, we’re introducing a vaping duty for the first time at £2.20 per 10ml of liquid.
Plus a one-off tobacco duty rise to keep the incentive to choose refillable vaping over smoking.

The change of threshold so employers now start paying National Insurance at £5,000 not £9,100 is big. For the employers who pay it, at the new 15% rate that alone's £615 increased cost per most employees per year.

Indignant but must be fuming at the amount Labour is spending on infrastructure and looking at Hun5 and thinking there must be a spelling mistake.
Can you just imagine the kick back on some of those contracts. I would not be surprised to see some Tories committing hari kiri over their potential loss Kemi and Ricky wondering who will knife them in the back

Biggest tax raising Budget in history - Reeves announces her plans will hike taxes by £40billion. For context Gordon Brown’s first Budget raised tax by £14bn and George Osborne’s by £13bn. Norman Lamont’s Budget would have been £33bn in today’s terms according to experts.

Small employers can claim an ‘employment allowance’ which gives them a deduction on NIC contributions below £5,000, provided the NIC they paid or still owe for the previous year was below £100,000.

These chumps banged on about a supposed fiscal black hole for months. Yet in their first budget they chose to ramp up spending of money we done have. They can't lie straight.

They've been doing it for years and years, I can't believe you haven't noticed. This isn't a ditch to die in.

Savers face a cut to the tax-free lump sum they can take from their pensions, under plans being considered by the Chancellor.
The Telegraph understands that government officials have asked one of Britain’s top pension providers to assess the impact of cutting the tax-free lump sum to £100,000, a third of the current limit.
This is not a prediction.
Unless you are claiming that government officials haven't done this?

If Labour were really serious about taking people out of poverty they would have increased the minimum wage to £15 an hour which was a motion that the Unite Union put forward at a Labour press conference 18 months ago and was passed by the members, increasing it in general was not even one of his 10 pledges when he became leader, one MP resigned when he was asked to argue against the rise. The rise is 39p less than the real living wage outside of London and £1.64 less than inside London, even at the real living wage people are still just working to live rather than living to work.
There are many people that send their kids to Private schools and they are not all high fliers who work in their city, some are parents that work all the hours God sends just to be able to afford the tuition fees, good chance some will have to send them back to poorly run state schools. It's not all rich, overly privileged kids that attend public schools, in many cases it's hard working parents trying to give their kids the education they never had.

Mes there are people who work really hard just to put a roof over their kids head and food on the table.
Of the 7% of kids who go to private school how many parents work three jobs? Dont the other 93% matter just as much?

It won't make any difference to me - I'm thinking of others - the lower pay rises , the people who won't get offered a job that they would have been offered, the increased debt passed to our kids and grandkids , the bigger public sector , highest taxation burden ever - I could go on.

Borrowing figures fiddled , interest rates higher for longer , and little impact on growth predictions according to OBR.
What a mess !! - borrowing huge sums for growth and it's not looking positive.
Spending more on public services means borrowing money and spending it on ourselves , leaving less to spend on future generations.

Truss reference is good and relevant one, despite all the moaning and whinging especially from the super rich clambering over each other on the runway at Gatwick to get themselves and their dough out of the country, the economy isn't crashing.

The country is already in a terrible state. We have stolen our children’s future. Most have no chance of a home let alone buying one.
We need a huge reset.
Trickle down economics live. The Captains of Industry will be licking their lips to get their snouts in the trough. Labour is always good for business.
The NI hikes are a big concern. The effects of the stamp duty rise needs to be assessed properly. Not sure it is going to work out.
Tories looked bombshelled. Why didn’t we do this? Like I said can you imagine the backhanders they are missing out on…. The look on their faces was one of total devastation just like the Mayor of Hiroshima

There's no way domestic property would get significantly easier to access for domestic people unless we stopped anyone in the world from being able to purchase it. No matter how many properties are built.

When buying a home, it’s essential to understand all the costs involved. Price is a crucial aspect for German real estate investors or if you want to buy a house for personal living.
The average purchasing price of a house in Germany is around 320,000 EUR. On average, people spend about 354,000 EUR on buying a home. The average price per square meter for an apartment in Germany was 4,664 EUR in 2022 across the country.
