In my London residence- I MUST pay insurance. I MUST pay road tax. I MUST pay for a CPZ permit to park outside my own house. If I'm stoopid enough to drive into central London I MUST pay the congestion charge. If I MUST pay, there is no reason why anyone else should not have to pay. There is a website where anyone can check whether any car is taxed. I've reported 2 abandoned over the years after checking they weren't taxed.

People ask me why I don't park in my own carriage way instead of parking on the road. I tell them because my staff need to park their cars there. That's when people don't believe me. And they're right !

Dotchinite - I used MOT check car , chances are if no MOT = no tax as you need MOT details to get taxed .

My mot & tax dates are about a month out of sync.
So if I really wanted to break the law could tax the car for a year but not get mot.

As everything is online with database it should be easy enough for authorities to draw up a list of people who haven’t renewed their car tax.
If there are loads in a certain area can send a team round .

Don’t know what happens if get caught speeding? Will the court also add not being taxed to the charge sheet?

Agree with slicer. Why should some of us have to pay more tax/insurance etc. to cover those who don't pay anything. Insurance has doubled in 4 years and a lot of that is because of people who don't insure or put in false claims. Crime pays better every year that passes in this country.
