As we heard earlier, Health Secretary Wes Streeting says weight loss jabs are not the only solution to obesity in the UK and he doesn't want to create a "dependency culture".
Addressing reaction to what he has said on weight loss jabs, he adds that he "is not interested in some dystopian future where I involuntarily jab unemployed people who are overweight". He says the jabs could be game-changing and if the government can "throw the trends we're seeing in obesity into reverse that's better for the health of the nation". He adds that the weight-loss jabs are "not a substitute to good changes to diet, nutrition and exercise". https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/crkdyxee6r5t Banning them from visiting a Greggs' or a Maceedee would be a good place to start. Throw in a chunk of subsidy to attend a Gym 3 times a week and a device that measures how many steps they tale on average per day, per week. |

Hitherto unseen levels of incompetence and ignorance from this latest batch of political leaders. Perhaps they think that people still go down coal mines for a job. A lot of them are fat because they don't want to work. And, erm, being fat doesn't stop people getting a job.

Hitherto unseen levels of incompetence and ignorance Welcome back, have you been anywhere nice for the past 15 years? |
By:
Yes, they are going some to be even more incompetent than the last lot. Contemplating getting the fat and poor hooked on fat jabs for life is a new bar.

5 prime ministers,
7 home secretaries, 10 education ministers, £37 Billion track 'n trace which can't be tracked or traced £350,000 hall wallpaper, etc etc ad nauseum. Fat jabs are not a new bar in British politics. |

Scathing attack. Not just on the policy, but also government attitudes to the poor/unemployed. |
By:
I doubt there were many fat poor people in Victorian times, most people built like rakes.
|

While many studies show a relationship between unemployment and obesity, that relationship is not straightforward. There is some evidence that being obese reduces the chances of employment, but it is not so much that obesity causes unemployment as that becoming unemployed leads to weight gain.

There's a rather large (pardon the pun), section of society that would do anything else but work for a living. Politicians, especially those who pretend to be left wing, would rather blame anything else but admit that. The type of people chasing the lifestyle will try to work around the system. There are far more riches in the welfare system if you can make yourself unhealthy and/or unhinged. It used to be knocking out kids and getting a bad back, but that's so 1990. Now it's obesity and adhd.

If your ambition is to live on benefits then I'd say it was a lack of
ambition that needed to be addressed, but we see them easily pleased and voting for brexit. Ian Duncan Smith knew. |
By:
In a referendum held on 23 June 2016, the majority of those who voted chose to leave the European Union.
|
By:
Still suffering now for that, but the fat benefit thieves
that voted for brexit didn't really get any increase in their benefits. But they are free to waste their lives |
By:
Its seems theres no subject that can be discussed without it developing into a moan about Brexit.
