The Persian Empire tried it B C , they were invaded and destroyed by Alexander the Great. Since then Countries that tried it have been wallowing in self pity and lacking governance by common sense
People from different cultures do not get along fact.... I've lived in many countries in my life (currently Spain) and I can honestly say multiculturalism does not work.
Multiculturalism is just a Dogma ..... its a utopian state that is fraught with failure.
The basic laws of nature cant be turned around, we are tribal beings always have been .
Locals in the main do not like accepting cultural differences where ever you live. When you live in a foreign culture you have to accept the way that locals find appropriate. Any meaningful diversity is frowned upon in the countries I have lived in.
Brits go to car boot sales, Spanish dont where I live. Brits go to the British pub Spanish go to Spanish bars . People know where they belong.
Any strife or opposing viewpoints between the two "Communities" gets quiet throttling, diminishing elimination by the Spanish Authorities. The Brits live mainly on "urbanisations" (housing estates) the Spanish live in the village. What good can possibly come from that? Wouldn't it be easier if people just lived in wholly separate countries in that case?
Multiculturalism is not a virtue. Dubious advantages at best while potential disastrous outcomes may be much more serious . History doesn't lie, recent events in societies that want to believe themselves diverse prove it time and time again.
Sorry if this offends anyone, I'm talking from experience, I'm not a nazi or a lefty . just voting common sense
Surely you are of a different culture to the Spanish.
Of course it can work, but, if people do not want to co exist then they don't.
Living parallel lives is so wasteful, compared to shared lives.
Hey ho, each to their own, sometimes.

"You find communities of brits in britain that don't mix, either by class, or religion, or footy club, or whatever and it's always been like that"
On one line you identify them as "brits" On the next line you say they don't mix .

Every country should either have a dominant religion, or no religion, otherwise conflict is on the horizon, Britain is a Christian country (still) but is on a collision course with Islam, with it being projected less than 50% will identify as Christian in Britain by 2050 but with the Muslim population continuing to grow in tandem. Once you have two major religions with a near or equal share of the population, you'll have problems of all sorts from legalities to culture clashes, it's already begun with the push for Sharia Law etc.

The British culture is christian Church of England, football, beer, sunday dinner (pork/lamb/beef), big greasy breakfast, afternoon tea. That's the way its been for hundreds of years.
Can't see Muslims having any of that .....

How many people in their daily life actually identify as Christian though?
I'd tick that box usually, but it's simply based on my childhood and education. I don't actively believe in or praise Christ. And I hardly think I'm alone. So who's this big religious war gonna be between exactly?
