Public favourability for both Sir Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves has fallen sharply, according to a poll.

As the government faces criticism for withdrawing winter fuel payments from all but the poorest pensioners, research this month found 32% of people viewed the prime minister favourably, a six-percentage point drop since August.

Those who view Sir Keir unfavourably increased by eight points to 46% over the same period, leaving a net score of minus 14 compared with a net score of zero last month.

The percentage who view Sir Keir unfavourably matches the highest level of negativity previously recorded for him by Ipsos following the Hartlepool by-election in 2021, which the Conservatives won from Labour with a swing of almost 16%.

The chancellor, who has warned of difficult choices ahead of the budget on 30 October, has seen her favourability fall by four points to 23%, at a time her unfavourability has risen by nine points to 44%.

This resulted in a net score of minus 21 in September compared with a score of minus eight in August.

The proportion of people who view the Labour Party favourably has fallen by four points to 36%, while unfavourability has increased by eight points to 45%.

Writing in the Sunday Telegraph, Starmer said Thatcher had “set loose our natural entrepreneurialism” during her time as prime minister.

In the article, Starmer pointed to Labour prime ministers of the past – Tony Blair and Clement Attleee – as well as Thatcher, as examples of how politicians can effect meaningful change.

6 months later ...he removes the picture of Thatcher from No 10, This geyser is Dodgy.

Yep... and along came Starmer .....with the bullshine

"Margaret Thatcher called it the 'first duty of government' - she was right. An expression of individual liberty - our rights and responsibilities, but also of justice, of fairness, of equality - one rule for all.

"That’s the principle I’ve been proud to serve all my adult life. As a human rights lawyer, fighting for families with young children, trying to escape mould-infested accommodation, or for freedom of speech in the McLibel case."

He used his speech to repeat claims that Labour is now the "party of law and order" and accused the Conservatives of being out of touch.

They could not have been more unpopular with me before the election never mind now. All of the things that I predicted they would do (but was rubbished on here) has turned out to be correct-apart from a new tax on savings which will arrive in the budget. Meanwhile anyone in a Union that supports Labour is getting an above inflation pay rise. Almost everyone else is already worse off. And they repeatedly accused the Tories of supporting their own voters!

How could he wear clothes bought by a Labour peer? No wonder the Labour Party harbours Islamists and extremists. Even Ms Rayner the Deputy PM, and Ms Reeves the Chancellor who constantly preaches to the nation hard decisions have to be made eg cancellation of Winter Heating payment accept clothes from wealthy donors.

These socialists are political scums, and as long as they are feathering their own nests or self-benefiting they do not practise what they preach.

Shame on Sir Starmer; shame on Lady Starmer; shame on Ms Rayner; shame on Ms Reeves!!

The most sickening of this episode is Sir Starmer, Lady Starmer, Ms Rayner and Ms Reeves can all afford to buy their own gears including glassed yet they accepted these without even considering it was in good taste, and could be construed as "bribes".

Why did these senior government reps not offer to buy their own, and instead asked the donors to donate the equivalent sum to charities or the food banks? These political scums think they are beyond the pale, and deserve the gifts themselves. This really makes my blood boil, and if I'm not a human being I'd wish them ill-health.

True political scums!!

That's me done with the Labour Party for good. If its leader and PM does not think that it's wrong to accept gifts from a Labour peer declare or not that I'll not have confidence in the judgement of this leader.

A charisma-less and inexperienced politician can become the Prime Minister UK Plc will have a bleak future. Sir Starmer could be as sh1t as Mr Corbyn eg Sir Starmer a high profile career lawyer with qualifications, but out-of-touch with the ordinary people; Mr Corbyn has never held a proper job, and qualification-less except at the picket line with a megaphone.

Both at the opposite end of the spectrum yet can be leader of the Labour Party is shockingly sad for UK Plc.

Starmer would have been barred from accepting any handouts at the dpp, and know why, so it's not anything to do with lack of political nous, and everything to do with entitlement. He simply thinks he's above everyone else and thoroughly deserves it.
