Fatboy slim a bit of a one trick pony but really enjoyed it (and Rita) last year. On the Park stage tonight at 10-11.30pm, that's the evening sorted.
Agree it looks a bit meh overall.

It's definitely become much more pop in the last few years. Rock has lost the war. Not a great deal on for me this year though PJ Harvey was good earlier.

Went in 02. Line up was a bit crap. QOTSA (with Grohl!) and Belle & Sebastian (with the lass who sings Lazy Line Painter Jane!!) were highlights (though I had the squits by B&S on sunday evening so was backtracking to the loos through their set. But yeah, the highlights were taking things I shouldn't have and wandering round finding new things and dancing like a tit till 7am. Essential stuff when you're young.

I saw cyndi at Newcastle City hall she was brilliant.
She had David macalmont as support and he came on to do time after time with her and that was great too.
She's so unusual was one of my favourite albums, sadly I had it on cassette and was a begga to keep rewinding on my Walkman, lol.

A portable device battery operated to listen to music. You stuck cassette in and it played into headphones.
Sort of early ipod but you had to load music.
Superceded by discman, which played cds
Invented by Sony but numerous cheapos were available of varying quality of playback and reliability.
Walkman was around £100 in 1980 so a lot of money cheapos were a few quid by late 80s.

Sounds too much like hard work to me. I'll stick to listening to Radio Luxembourg under the covers in bed every night wirh the signal drifting off to leave silence (usually when your favourite record came on)

Just for context, in 1969 when I was 16 two streetwise guys knew I liked music other than the run-of-the-mill stuff & took me to see Free(Eternal thanks Mick & Del)

Just noticed tomorrow (Sat) Acoustic Stage 5.00 - 6.00 The Manfreds featuring Paul Jones & Mike D'Abo
Jeez! Last time I saw Paul Jones was when he was with the Blues Band well over 20 years ago (Jools Holland's brother was on the keyboards). Paul must have been well over 60 then (but had the energy of someone in their 30's)

Case man, you are taking on the worries of the world. For the weekend it is forget it all and have a few beers, enjoy the football as well as the music and chill a bit.
We are all concerned citizens of this planet but sometimes we have to pass the mantle onto others even if it is for a short time.

going to have to watch The Breeders set at some point so see if they've learned to play their instruments yet...
good raw Indie band live of their time though...Cannonball still an Indie classic for anyone that hasn't absorbed themselves anally yet..
cheers to Lapsy re other stuff - appreciated.

Enjoyed Last Dinner Party. They always remind me of Sparks with their theatricality. Made for Glastonbury.
Just watched The Breeders too. Seen them a few times. Kim's voice wasn't at its best though sadly.
Not much else grabbing me on the line up tbh today.

Enjoying Coldplay to be fair to them. I liked their first two albums at the time. Thought Fix You was an absolute dog of a song (still do) and then they went a bit pop and left me behind. But they're sort of treating this like an old fashioned Saturday night variety tv show with people coming on and off and all kinds going on. F*ck it. Go big or go home.
Going to check out Keane's set in a bit. Was never really big on them but saw a clip and Tom's voice still sounds ridiculously good. I had my eyes lazered twenty years ago, and their album was on repeat while I lay in a dark room, in a fever, in proper pain, unable to see while my relatively new girlfriend looked after me and was playing the only record she had that I thought was ok (Eros Ramazzotti or Anastacia wouldn't remotely have cut it). Really nice to see Tom well and doing well after his troubles.

I bought 'Yellow' when it came out..quite liked a few bits and pieces after ...even now the odd song...but never has a band of that kind of origin been this average and this rich...
ouch on the eyes btw...love some of Keanes stuff but found their albums massively underwhelming - maybe just the wrong time for me as I was beginning to spend less time on music..

Just watched Blondshell who I like a lot, putting Ms Twain on now. Don't quite see her as a fit for this slot. Only has about 3 or 4 well known songs doesn't she, and everything else is just gonna be mid-paced line-dancing nonsense or weepy ballads. You just want big pop hits to sing and dance to for this bit. Still looks great though.
