The deaths of LGBT soldiers in Ukraine have exposed an inequality. They do not have the same rights as heterosexual troops. Gay marriage is illegal, meaning when these soldiers are killed, their partners do not have the right to decide what happens to their bodies, nor are they entitled to state support.

What we are also doing is to keep the refugee flow low-ish compared to what would happen if Ukraine was left defenceless. I'm always a bit baffled that those that are most inclined to be of the opinion that there is little room for additional migrants are also those that want many more Ukrainians to have to flee as their country is swallowed up by an imperialistic force that doesn't recognise Ukrainians as a worthy national identity or humans.
Not only would the additional refugees be a logistical challenge, but it will also not exactly be cheap for the UK and EU to accommodate many more millions of Ukrainians. |
