Surprised no thread on this disgrace on betfair politics, English seem more interested in immigration. I thought something like this is more important to working class UK citizens.
Anyway I never seen original TV drama but I've watched the interrogation of these corporate guys from KC on Sky News.
This lad is magnificent, possibly could be a sequel to initial drama, pity John Thaw is not around to play the part.
Hopefully real justice will be done and not just compo.

Is worth a watch Malay.
Think it is still on ITVX so can download and watch in bits,

Does seem that senior managers knew/suspected that their software had problems yet still insisted it worked.
Would like to see some of the top bods taken to court/prison repay millions. Doubt it will happen as bet they kept far enough away from the real dirty stuff.

Seems that it isn’t acceptable any more to kidnap somebody you don’t like and stick them in the town stocks for a week. That is political correctness gone mad. Would have had justice in the 16th century.
Report MALAY April 13, 2024 12:52 PM BST
i will definitely try and have a watch mexico of the drama, thanks
But the KC was top drawer at this inquiry, definitely worth a watch too. If it's not being wiped out.

There have been threads on here.

This has been going on for a long time under both political parties. Neither one can be held solely to account because both were involved.

So a lot on here aren't interested if they can’t come on and slag off the opposite party.

Posters like you-have-to-laugh-at-the-leftie-loser, would have been all over this if it had only happened under the Tories.

Questions were being asked over a decade ago about the unlikelyhood of all these people being guilty.

I wonder if Starmer can be dragged into it?

He was Director of Public Prosecutions and Head of the Crown Prosecution Service, between 2008-13.
Surely he needs to held to account?
Report MALAY April 13, 2024 1:08 PM BST
not at all Dr, as far as i'm aware both parties are up to their neck in this, apologies if you got wrong impression from my post, but with the official inquiry now on, i thought it would be more interesting than "boats"
As i stated I never seen the drama, it's the inquiry I watched and commended the KC for his attack on the corporate governance, and how they say they were unaware of the situation and how that can be possible, if you were doing job correctly ? which I assume was significant salaries.

Starmer was too busy protecting Jimmy Savile and making sure illegal immigrants got more benefits then soldiers who served there Country

Malay.

I believe that technically anybody can bring a private prosecution, however it is expensive & don’t have the police to collect evidence and beat up suspects.

The original Steven Laurence trial was private, case collapsed.
Alan Bates has recently said would consider raising money to launch private prosecution if CPS doesn’t fancy their chances.

The former PM of Malaysia a Mr Razak raided the country's piggy bank 1DMB of over RM2.7bn (over $700m). He was only tried, found guilty and sent to jail by his former mate and PM. This abuse of power and theft surpassed that of President Marcos in the Philippines.

A cover-up - political or otherwise - will always come to light eventually. It's just a matter of time.
Report Dr Crippen April 13, 2024 3:09 PM BST
I'm afraid you're wrong MALAY

''There have been six appeals to date in which the CPS was the Respondent, not Post Office…

What Starmer didn’t do:

As Nigel Farage pointed out, take over or end private prosecutions: The Director of Public Prosecutions of CPS “has the right to take over any private prosecution (under section 6(2) of the Prosecution of Offences Act) and either continue with the prosecution or discontinue it.”

What Starmer did do:

Allow CPS to act on behalf of the Post Office in a number of cases, though the exact number is unclear. One case in 2010, Regina Vs Seema Misra, is on the record where CPS prosecuted a sub-postmistress.''

The KC Jason Beer is a really interesting watch, he is totally on top of his brief, asks seemingly innocuous questions in the first part of the evidence and then gently dismantles the witnesses, no accusations of lying  but very deliberate periods of silence after a punch has been landed, I guess that he will be given the responsibility for questioning Angela van Bogert and then Paula Vennels, I suspect that this will make him something of a media celebrity but I dont think he would take the pay cut.

If while the prosecutions were going on (and they were well reported in the media.)

If we had a good head of prosecutions, rather than someone clearly out of their depth like Starmer.

They could have stepped in and stopped the travesties of justice.

What kind of leader does that make Starmer as head of the Labour party?

You would like to think that at some point somone in a senior position involved in prosecutions would understand statistics and probability.

So that when suddenly a large amount of post masters start getting similar allegations made against them and prosecuted via the same source of evidence they would get suspicious about this in the same way that if there was a sudden increase in unexplained deaths or FAI's involving a single doctor or nurse or a sudden increase in similar drug convictions via the same police officer you would also hope there interest might be piqued.

Exactly the amount of judges and lawyers this has been seen by and hands this has passed through, without them standing up and doing the right thing... but instead they just took the pay... and now a load more lawyers will get paid a load more.

When this is finally done, maybe and just maybe the actual victims in this scandal might get some compensation, if they are still here when that day finally comes!

It's never them or their class that suffer the injustices brought on through neglect.

When they get exposed they close ranks and cover up.  And if they tumble, there's always a golden handshake at the end of it.

But when plebs like Noblet take their side, it makes my blood boil at their gullibility.

Report cryoftruth April 19, 2024 1:23 AM BST
I was not a remainer voter, but it’s clear brexit has cost us all money (all apart from Reece Smugg and Tory chums that is).

But the Tories presided over mass miscarriages of justice. They were to blame. Not brexit.
