48 hours without eating anything? Doubt I could do that tbh.

Seems all the ‘experts’ are now suggesting to delay breaking your fast at lunchtime thus giving your body a chance to heal itself. 100’s of TikTok videos covering this and blaming sugar for everything that is bad. Avoiding insulin spikes seems the key. I’ve tried this a few times and also gone for a 5 mile walk at 9am and it does seem to feel quite good and I was surprised the amount of energy I had without having a normal breakfast.

People should be cautious about following fad diets especially if they have underlying health problems.

What you describe is also basically what the guy in the video linked by DancingBraveTheBest suggests - have your last meal at 6 pm, then eat again at 12 pm (or have any other 18 hour window without eating, probably easiest to do if you sleep half of the time). Nothing too extraordinary really for the compulsive gamblers among us that get up, bet and are too stressed out to even think of eating.

Though I guess there are also those who stress eat instead of stress starve.

Countries where people have lack of food Have the lowest Life expectancy ,Why would anyone deny themselves food for 48 Hours , Unless feeling unable to eat ?

I would suggest denying the Body nutrition as Such , may have a short term High Due the bodies Metabolism   , but sadly a very  long term LOW  ..

I would struggle to go two days without food

I’ve cut out an evening meal 4 times a week.
It’s very manageable.
Hopefully I’ll gradually get down to a good weight.
I’m 97 kg and want to get to 85 kg.
Maybe lose 1 or 2 kg a month.

You have to walk about 5 miles to lose 1 slice of bread & exercise makes you hungry. Look at what you eat, a bit of discipline & weight is lost! Exercise only to maintain muscle tone & heart health not to lose wight. Remember muscle weighs more than fat! Around the world in 80 weighs, Channel 4, 9.00 tonight to view the obscenely obese!

My father died mainly from his issues with diabetes and on his death bed he told me and my siblings to promise not to end up like him and i am keeping that promise. I agree its not easy but nothing worth anything in life is not easy imo.

Last week on Around the world they showed a young lady with 2 amputated legs due to diabetes.

The book I just read (well listened to) says there are studies that show exercise doesn't particularly help you lose weight. While you burn off calories at the gym, your body then slows down its burn afterwards to compensate. Exercise still good for health and fitness etc but not necessarily weight loss.

Basically the only real way to lose weight is to control what you're eating. Probably why these new weight loss drugs are potentially such game changers. Could save the country billions in stemming all the diabetes and heart cases coming down the line.

PP I've made a note in my diary. I never ever thought that we'd ever agree on something. Today's the day.

I always associated fasting with religion . A bit like self flagellation Confused
Report peckerdunne February 8, 2024 12:28 PM GMT
I have always done cardio and some weights, 10 times a month.

Never had weight issues, but when I was running 5K twice a week prior covid and opp, I could eat what I wanted.

Now I am 4 or 6 lb higher than that but still in a good bmi.

Thanks for replies.

Last night at 7, I completed a 20 hour fast. Yes I did.

Not because I'm impressionable but just feel what it was like.

I did actually go to the gym too and did a good work out followed 20 minutes in hot sauna..I

Drank water all day,it was no problem, noticed no sugar highs and felt a bit sprightly too.

Might do it again.

Rishi does it I know as a religious discipline but apparently 36 hours is required for the bowel to reach regeneration period.
