To answer the question in the title of this thread ------- It has gone woke, very very woke.
Sports personality of the year, what a laugh. In my opinion, one of the six finalists would have been known to less than 1% of the population, and one to less than 10% of the nation. The winner was from a very minor team sport. Anybody who thinks that is misogyny is either stupid or is simply trying to provoke an argument. |

Didnt watch it myself but to be fair the list of candidates was very poor and she did get voted the best womens goalkepper in the world although that talent pool also isnt a big one

When an English goalkeeper comes out of a shootout at a World Cup as the winner, any discussion on SPOTY is over imo. Certainly with a public vote in an otherwise down year where competition seems to have been some guy who did cricket things and a woman who competes in the sports for all those that are decent enough at everything while excelling at nothing.
