Read a thread yesterday about the micromanagement from one academy group of schools. Just utterly weird.

These times are in minutes:

00:00-02:00 - Entry routine, tutor greets students at the threshold. They enter in silence and take their seats.

02:00-04:00 - Two book monitors hand out texts row by row. Use the behaviour system to reward. Tutor issues the page number. Tutor completes the register.

04:00-05:00 - Teacher re-issues page number. Instruct students to have 'books flat' and 'rulers ready' to follow the text. Insist on 100% compliance (narrate the positives). Teacher briefly recaps where necessary. Two sentences at most.

05:00-26:00 - Teacher reads aloud, at pace from the front of the room. Scan the room and remind 'books flat'. Issue a verbal reminder to any student not reading along. Continue reading. Scan a second time. Use the behaviour system for any student who refuses to follow your instructions.

26:00-28:00 - Go back to any key vocabulary you have signposted and provide an explanation.

28:00-30:00 - Students hand books to the end of the rows. Book monitors collect texts and store in the plastic box. Students leave the classroom following the exit routine.
