Really odd move.

Here's the thing. Most people don't want climate change. They recognise that something needs to change. They don't mind doing the recycling. They aren't scared at the prospect of electric cars phasing out petrol and diesel.
He's appealing to a very tiny minority just to save his own skin. Tories have just utterly blown up in the last few years.
Report scandanavian_haven September 21, 2023 12:01 AM BST
The Climate change drive and policy talk is simply not a vote winner, it's a complete waste of anyone's time campaigning on that, and telling the country the other party is rubbish has never done the trick either, it's the big issues, the economy, health care, immigration etc, if Joe Public feels as though they can trust one government more than the other on balance on those issues they'll win, that along with image/PR/who the leader is. The Tories have won the last few elections by default because Labour were in such as mess. Regardless of what anyone thinks of Starmer, in terms of PR and electability he's a marked improvement on Corbyn and a lot of those borrowed seats will be turning back to red also by default.

You can also not underestimate the backlash against the Conservative party for getting rid of Boris, that may have been a very popular thing to do with Parliament, Tory MP's, certain sections of the press, but he was still generally very popular with Tory voters and floating voters, remembering most voters are casuals who do not follow politics intensely and understand how useless and self-serving he really was, they probably thought getting rid early will give the public enough time to get to know Sunak, but he hasn't grown on anyone, just an odd little man with no charisma. Majority of the electorate are passive followers of politics and casual voters, they'll punish the Tories for stabbing Boris in the back.

Let’s be honest we all know this is just playing politics and pandering to a fringe element. It’s far more important what Labour think about 2030.

Is a nuclear power station a steam engine?

After a fashion and downstream of the nuclear reactor, it is usually a conventional steam turbine electricity generator.

Report cryoftruth September 22, 2023 8:10 AM BST
Trouble with the Sunak upturn is that it’s not actually going to make much difference. If you stop the sale of new diesel and petrol cars on 2030, there will still be plenty left around producing carbon on 2050 and longer. There is no reason in terms of economics for pushing the date back 5 years. None at all. Anyone needing a petrol/diesel car would still be able to get one.

The Sunak proposal is entirely a political decision caused by the electoral polls. The Tories have had some years of the lying sleaze and general letcher Johnson, who lied himself out of a job. Then they elected Dags. Dags introduced a budget that has led to us having to pay massively increased mortgages and led to the Tories now being known as the Party of financial irresponsibility as well of terrible sleaze and corruption. So they are stuffed.

Now Sunak has blundered in protecting us from things like having 7 different dust bins, things of course that nobody had ever thought of introducing. Now the “I’ll protect you from” stuff is that it’s all made up it’s a straightforward lie.

And Sunak has made this pledge to attack the work on climate change and global warming for political reasons. He wants to try and pretend he is some anti climate change warrior. He is trying to appeal to the few climate change deniers and other right wing nut jobs, otherwise who are quite fed up of the Tories,

He is of course risking a lot. The Ford motor company has invested on the basis of the 2030 ban. They are cross! Why would they invest in the U.K. again when the Party of Government plays politics with the economy so often, is totally unreliable and continues to tell bare faced lies to them and everyone else.

Desperate stuff.
