Nowadays opioid overdoses are a bigger killer in the USA than guns.
I was reading recently that they seized a bag of pure fentanyl in San Francisco, only a few Kilos but big enough to kill 500,000 people. |

Does seem a massive problem compared to U.K & we are hardly a drug free country…
USA. Overall, drug overdose deaths rose from 2019 to 2021 with more than 106,000 drug overdose deaths reported in 2021. U.K. 4,859 deaths related to drug poisoning were registered in 2021 in England and Wales, equivalent to a rate of 84.4 deaths per million people; this is 6.2% higher than the rate recorded in 2020 (79.5 deaths per million). https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/bulletins/deathsrelatedtodrugpoisoninginenglandandwales/2021registrations https://nida.nih.gov/research-topics/trends-statistics/overdose-death-rates#:~:text=Overall%2C%20drug%20overdose%20deaths%20rose,overdose%20deaths%20reported%20in%202021. |

Recently watched mini series Painkillers on netflix about big pharma and doctors proscribing opiods that people didn't need and making false claims in order to make billions of pounds.
Sounded like an outlandish conspiracy theory that only an alt-right nutjob could dream up but turns out it's a true story. ![]() |

Open border
|
By:
Yes Open borders in Bidens America -Mexican drug cartels and unsafe borders don’t say you wern’t warned
|
By:
open borders have nothing to do with this you utter weirdos. Read Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe. It lays it all out. Simply down to a rapacious pharma company and a weak/complicit regulator.
|
By:
Instead of calling it what it was - an illicit fentanyl poisoning epidemic -
caused by Mexican drug cartels ( and China ) bringing it into the country via unsafe borders they decided to make up a scenario that Americans were dying from prescription drugs instead They started terrorising doctors who prescribed taking pain relief away from elderly patients The drugs are accessed on the streets - via the drug cartels and the open unsafe borders . That’s what’s happening . You’re welcome |
By:
you literally have no idea what you're talking about
|
By:
Fentanyl overdose has become the leading
cause of death among young Americans since 2019 US authorities say that China remains the primary source of the precursor chemicals which are then processed and manufactured into synthetic opioids by Mexican drug cartels to bring into the US ‘ 99% of the fentanyl is coming from precursor drugs from China and then it’s manufactured by two cartels, the Jalisco and Sinaloa Cartels , and they are the ones who are bringing it across the border “ |
By:
went into overdrive when they convinced the CCD,FDA, opiods weren't addictive
![]() A bonanza $$$$ for all involved , similar marketing to the jab, unparalleled pharmaceutical marketing campaign. All pleaded guilty , trillions & more death than your " pandemic" |

open borders have nothing to do with this you utter weirdos. Read Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe. It lays it all out. Do you think this rapacious pharma company and weak/complicit regulators were unique, or could it possibly be a regular occurrence? |
By:
you literally have no idea what you're talking about
It's lfc, that goes without saying. |
By:
|
By:
In America, very much so and it's a big warning to us about the costs of moving to a system where private companies have control to prioritise profits over service and safety here too.
|
By:
Pineapple is conflating different issues and not thinking clearly , as usual
|
By:
The people buying drugs are the same people who have always done so for decades
The difference is they are buying drugs on the street - heroin , cocaine that may or may not be mixed with fentanyl .. used by the cartels because it’s cheaper and more potent The problems occur because many are not aware of it . They are taking something much much stronger - and it kills them |
By:
The case regarding American drug companies
and the FDA and doctors and use of and regulations .. is a separate issue You’re welcome |
By:
Seems strange that cartels are supplying drugs to kill of their buyers
![]() |
By:
*off
|
By:
Well you see drug dealers are not that stupid
They don’t want to kill their customers .. but fentanyl is so cheap and so much more potent that it means a little is easier to hide transport etc And it seems they think it’s worth the risk … |
By:
Now pineapple literally doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about
It doesn’t matter how many books you might read .. if you cannot think clearly |
By:
I watched Painkiller Shrewd interesting series
So Mexican drug dealers are flooding the states with death but it has nothing do with it ![]() Pineapple what does Empire of Pain have to do with Fentanyl ? The Sakler/Purdue mob were flooding the country with Oxycodone |
By:
and the Sackler family have immunity from prosecution
Justice Amrikan style! |
By:
Money makes the World go round
|
By:
Yeah but
What difference are the Mexican Drug Cartels compared to the Sackler Gang? |
By:
Don't initially buy addictive illicit substances from shady people. How hard can it be for a population?
|
By:
Aspro is right. Why would a drug cartel supply lethal drugs to their customers?
Having said that the dealer who supplied the fatal pills that killed Robert de Niro's grandson warned him to be careful as one of his customers had already died taking the pills that weekend As the Americans say, go figure? |
By:
Why would Perdue supply lethal drugs to their customers
|
By:
Perdue's product was manufactures to a high quality standard. i.e. everyone knew what was in the pill and the pills were prescribed by doctors. So plenty of people became addicted but relatively few died.
Drug cartels obviously don't have the same manufacturing quality control and a customer can buy as many as they want. |
By:
Obviously?
|
By:
Do you think this rapacious pharma company and weak/complicit regulators were unique, or could it possibly be a regular occurrence?
Lessons have been learned since then. Let's not even contemplate it ever happening again until which point we are told lessons need to be learned again. |
By:
What lessons?
Rich people get away with murder? We knew that already! |

You sound like some sort of anti.....
