I knew a woman who was a model for a wig manufacturer. The wages were poor but she enjoyed the fringe benefits.

The shopkeeper could have defused the situation by giving her a refund. I suspect there is a good margin on hair products for black people and he appears to have killed the goose stone dead by allowing the situation to escalate. I just hope the situation doesn't inflame further and common sense prevails.

Foin, it's a very common scam for an accomplice to nick goods and the other person tries to obtain a cash refund. We don't know if this is the case in this particular instance, clearly. But if you have a policy, you don't relent on it because someone becomes aggressive. The situation was caused by her violently, physically attacking the man.
Now these types of incidents occur up and down the country. I dealt with enough of them myself (when the feds did used to attend). The only reason this has been amplified, is due to the race card being pulled out of the pack. Every black person is a victim, isn't it. |

The feds appear to have decreed that shrinkage is now a cost of doing business. I understand she attacked him but these days with mobile cameras everywhere you can't grab a woman like that if you are a man. Perhaps those types of shop will have to protect displays behind screens in the future if they want to continue trading in those areas. In any case, these sorts of incidents lead to traders closing up and moving out so they benefit nobody in the end.

I was in the retail game in the late nineties and early noughties. We had a great relationship with the police.
My take on it is if a woman wants to act like a man, then so be it, face the consequences. This wasn't a mere slap, she was brutal, persistent whipping and battering. Feral, as I mentioned, like that XL bully dog. It's very easy to watch a video and say someone should or shouldn't have done that, but when the adrenaline is flowing and you are being attacked, you go into auto pilot defence mode. fwiw I witnessed one of these thieves (a bloke) punch a plain clothes detective straight in the face, from an elevated position. He smashed her cheekbone. He happened to be back, she happened to be white. And yes, that is not made up. Some of them would do anything to get away, she was as brave as they came. |
