WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats’ first attempt at responding to the back-to-back mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde, Texas, failed in the Senate as Republicans blocked a domestic terrorism bill that would have opened debate on difficult questions surrounding hate crimes and gun safety.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., tried to nudge Republicans into taking up a domestic terrorism bill that had cleared the House quickly last week after mass shootings at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, and a church in Southern California targeting people of color. He said it could become the basis for negotiation.
But the Thursday vote failed along party lines, raising fresh doubts about the possibility of robust debate, let alone eventual compromise, on gun safety measures. The final vote was 47-47, short of the 60 needed to take up the bill. All Republicans voted against it.

Some scheduled speakers and performers have backed out, including two Texas lawmakers and “American Pie” singer Don McLean, who said “it would be disrespectful” to go ahead with his act in the aftermath of the country’s latest mass shooting.
While President Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress have renewed calls for stricter gun laws, NRA board member Phil Journey said the focus should be on better mental health care and trying to prevent gun violence. He said he wouldn’t support banning or limiting access to firearms.
The NRA said in an online statement that people attending the gun show will “reflect on” the Uvalde school shooting, “pray for the victims, recognize our patriotic members, and pledge to redouble our commitment to making our schools secure.”

so banning weapons is not a violation of 2A then is it?
One thing to consider is what could happen if a group of right wing extremists, or terrorists, or so called mentally deranged people get together through internet contact. Some of these extremists do seem to get together for so called training exercises and these are increasing in number. I think it has now be said by some in the security services that the threat from some of them is now be more dangerous than that of foreign influenced terrorists. Currently some of the acting alone shooters have tried to target minority racial groups. Armed with those type of guns could a group of extremists gathered together launch a much more devastating attack somewhere than the one just seen in this recent Texas attack?
What could the chances of such an attack like that happening be? What can happen when more than one person is involved? Some years ago I seem to remember there was a so called "sniper" active in Maryland where two men worked together and over a number of shootings several people were killed. One man made a shot from concealment in a car and then the other drove the car away after the shoot had been made.

Raffensberger was polling at 10% when Trump endorsed his opponent. Raffensberger then shot up in the poll and finished with 52%. Perdue was level in the polls when Trump endorsed him. He finished losing by 72-22.
