a veterinary agreement would sort 90% of the NI protocol dispute.
The reason we don't have one is we had spartan Lord Frost negotiating for the UK. Boris never understood what he was signing, all he knew was it got Brexit done! Moron.
Let's hope whoever is the next PM tells Frosty to go f*** himself

Interesting to see if Lewis's replacement takes any different path to solving the DUP not going to Stormont .
Unfortunate death of a DUP supporter in Larne ( it would be wouldn't it as Larne is focal point of protocol issue re so called sea border) , falling from a bonfire construction which was 50 feet high .
The fallout inherent in the "bonfire mentality" is that open domestic fires will never be banned in Northern Ireland . No penalties on that could be enforced without having half the loyalist population of NI suffer bigger penalties ( based on size of conflagration ) . Assuming the PSNI are even handed .

A-T , bet you don't have hundreds of pallets on your bonfire .
Question for me has been for a long time " do they buy the pallets ( unlikely ) or how do they acquire them legally ? ".
No one has ever been prosecuted for stealing pallets here . Blind eye .

When I was growing up in Belfast , tradition was to have a Halloween bonfire . There was one every year 20 yards from our house , but of reasonable size so that it did not interfere with traffic or threaten housing . And lots of neighbours used the opportunity to clear out their garage of junk .
Slight mess after the burning , but relatively easily cleaned up , and we cooked jacket potatoes in the dying embers of the fire after all the fireworks ( not 5 Nov here) were exhausted .
But 50 foot bonfires are just nuts , and if they are painted red white and blue why would any loyalist actually ignite same ? Maybe that is just DUP logic .

I think the people of NI are slowly realising that sectarianism based on religion is a sad way to waste your life.
They are still in the single market, the economy is booming and the sun shines on NI. Go enjoy life.

It’s true that wood pallets are not as aesthetically pleasing It was better in the past when youngsters would collect and build large towering bonfires using bits of wood and furniture and tyres etc - i ( another victim of the green agenda ) And they would camp out overnight to make sure rival bonfire makers wouldn’t burn it down or steal stuff

'That bit of fun'. Doubt very much any nationalists will be making a song about the fella falling off the bonfire last night unlike the orange order with that young schoolteacher.

One of many throughout NI to be built and lit on the 11th night this bonfire will be taken down after this tragedy Wooden pallets are inherently unstable and it’s something that will have to be addressed - a neighbouring bonfire is attempting to break the world record of 198ft

You are trying to put the flag and effigy burnings on a par with nationalists with a very random one 7 years ago.
You are some bigot to be applauding the burning of the Irish flag, pryck.

August 2020 : Controversial nationalist bonfires lit in Derry
Traditionally nationalist bonfires have been lit in August in nationalist areas across Derry They are lit to mark the Catholic feast of the assumption Ahead of the fires organisers had been urged to comply with covid regulations limiting outdoor gatherings to 30 At one of the main bonfires in the bogside a significantly larger crowd gathered to watch late on Saturday night
Several of the fires continue to be a source of controversy within the city with young bonfire builders criticised for anti social behaviour - and burning items and symbols associated with the unionist tradition
On the Bogside fire a picture of the Queen was attached to the structure before it was torched
Union flags , N Ireland flags , and a US and Israeli flag were also placed on the stacks of wooden pallets As were flags of the Parachute Regiment
A long banner bearing the words God save the Queen was placed on the bonfire As were stolen poppy wreaths on another bonfire in the waterside area
You really will have to stop your Irish nationalist propaganda and narrow one sided nationalist viewpoint lapsy It doesn’t bear up to scrutiny

burning waste is illegal in Ireland and England in a public area, No idea why this is not dealt with by regulatory authorities, if a commercial business done this, they would face jail time.

The Hague has banned traditional New Year’s Eve bonfires on the beach after a disaster was only narrowly avoided last year . A combination of a pile of pallets that was too high , strong westerly winds and a rain of sparks set cars and even houses on fire. Residents in the affected neighbourhoods of Duindorp and Schevenigen have reacted to the ban with anger and sporadic rioting
Why? Banning the bonfires is nothing short of a sacrilege for the citizens of Duindorp “ We want to campaign for something that transcends our individual lives A brand , a god , a club , a family - and we concentrate all our forces on this symbol
In Duindorp the celebratory bonfire stood for all kinds of identities and was therefore on the same level as a religion . Fathers taught their sons how to build bonfires Deceased neighbours were paid tribute to with portraits on large canvases placed next to the bonfire. The irrational aspect of the entire project was its great energy “

Here are the sinister words of a Dutch politician : @ “ The Hague must accept the bitter consequence of the fact that for too long a ritual was tolerated even though it has been clear for years that it was associated with high risks when strong winds were blowing from the sea This should not be the end of the story …perhaps the time has come to regulate all New Year’s Eve festivities , not just in The Hague but all over the Netherlands Because there is hardly anywhere left where the turn of the year is still a festive occasion for everyone “ …..

Bonfires, marching with silly hats and umbrellas, marching past other peoples houses just to provoke and intimidate them
A truly civilised nation. Some of you people truly deserve each other

The 'union' isn't fit for purpose and should be broken up immediately.
A majority now have no say in NI and the voice of Scotland can't be expressed simply by Westminster not allowing that.
It has to go for democracys sake.

scotland Wales and ireland collectively should break up the u k and get away from the liars that were part of the English Boris government.
Do the English sheep realise the Etonian old school brigade has led them up the garden path for so long ?

A glib reply. How can you leave if the very means of asking the people is denied?
No one can argue that a bill is being passed against the majority wishes in NI.
It has failed.

I'm sure no matter how much land and property that may come your way,you won't be so shallow to even considering applying for one.
Anyway the jackboot of Westminster has to be removed from NI (and Scotland imo morally deserves to decide their future)
A scandal they are continuing with this bill this afternoon and zero say from NI.

Conall Donnelly, chief executive of NIMEA is one of many who say the Protocol is working very well.
The dups aim seems to be a parity with food rotting in the fields, animals culled, part of trade deals with Austrailia and New zealand actually costing money, sewage in rivers and the rest.
It can't happen.

Old news. Amazing none of the 2 protagonists in the tory leadership 'race' haven't been asked anything about this, maybe they aren't allowed to reply anyway. It won't and morally shouldn't be taken by the EU,you seem to be favouring that action.

We have only one side if the story .. A young Irish woman living in Australia was shocked when a prospective landlord turned down her request for accommodation because of her nationality Megan Ni Cheallaigh from Dublin was told , Hi Megan thanks for your enquiry We have had Irish tenants at this property in the past, but alas they always turned the house into their local pub / rowdy social hub . I,m sure you’re not like this but after being bitten several times in the past I have made it a policy not to let to anyone from your country …
