consider also that the vast majority of these people would have died anyway by 2024

In the USA, seven of the top ten most Covid infected states have republican governors, six of the least infected states have democrat governors. It's pretty clear the GOP is now the party of disease and ignorance.

My daughter and her partner both double jabbed both have got the vid. It's a virus and will get just about everybody, and kill the weakest. Possibly time to stop bothering about case numbers if people aren't really ill. Daughter and partner have cold like symptoms, 10 days off work.

dave you are cherry picking stats

if we list the states by per capita deaths New Jersey (Dem) is first and Rhode Island (Dem) is third

6 of the top 11 have Democrat governors

there is a theory now that AZ is better than Pfizer in terms of lasting protection

Case numbers tell us how the
virus is spreading.

Vaxxes have made people far
less likely to become seriously ill.

So the same number of cases leads
to fewer deaths.

Test and trace should still be
a major part of our defence against
the spread.

Yes. Also, by cases, 6 of the top 9 states are election battlegrounds.

It difficult to compare states in America . If California has a population of 100 and 10 Covid deaths
And another state has a population of 10 and 2,Covid deaths - what does that mean ?
It’s possible that California has been less successful in combating Covid

You have a situation in America now where 25% or so of the population are not going to be vaccinated under any circumstances. Their future doesn't look promising.

lol as opposed to europe where everyone including kids are going to get mandatory vaccines every 5-6 months for the rest of their lives
By:

A bigger population ? well that could mean you have a greater chance to get things right( or wrong )
But the very numbers tend towards a fairly accurate reflection
If there are not big numbers , just a much smaller population then there can be quite a good chance that luck and fortune or some other factor unknown plays a part - and shews the results

about 1,000 people a day are dying in the US

equivalent to about 200 in the UK

UK, with much higher vaccination numbers, is on about 100 a day

this is what we're talking about: the difference between 100 and 200 a day dying

neither number is particularly high

UK was 1,500 deaths a day at one point

This is what he does , either this vaccine works now as is and with those who will not be vaccinated , that’s fine . Or  he gets to work and invests quickly in improving the vaccine
Shouldn’t be a problem - hurry up

Sadly, many of them won't be with us in the future. However, that is entirely their choice.

You can encourage, cajole, place all the facts before them in black and white, but if they still choose not to be vaccinated they must accept that their employment, social and travel options will be limited.

It looks certain that it will lead to a rise in USA unemployment, at least in the shorter term, as anti vaxxers are fired.
