341  awaiting admission
294  waiting in  emergency
47   waiting on trolleys around the hospital

It's a shame the health service executive improved nothing
We have issues with overcrowding
taught it wouldn't happen till end of September
We can't cope ever ..
I hope the health police can help ?

We're slowly adopting the American system.

Where the poor have access to basic emergency service, and the rich use private medicine and enjoy the best there is to offer.

/\_We have that here already
vhi private is one lots available. If you don't have it expect years on waiting list ..
Comedy the gov. Took over these as overspill .. In effect making them pointless .. They returned 10% of yearly cost Laugh

This sounds bad in the Irish Times.....................

There are 644 patients on trolleys in emergency departments or on wards waiting for a hospital bed on Tuesday, nurses have said.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) said there were 55 people on trolleys or on wards at University Hospital Galway and 54 at Cork University Hospital.

The new figures represent one of the highest levels of hospital overcrowding recorded so far.

Earlier this month a record 677 patients were waiting on trolleys in emergency departments or onwards for a hospital bed after being deemed by a doctor to require admission.

Last week the trolley and ward count figure compiled by the INMO reached 668.

people on trolleys has been a major political issue here for as long as i can remember

was probbaly the second biggest issue in the last election after housing (early 2020, before covid)

You'll be doing the same as us G. Invite millions in and squash em into existing schools and hospitals. Lack of forward planning is diabolical.
Report Giuseppe July 28, 2021 2:56 PM BST
on the contrary Irish government has a plan

it's called Ireland 2030 or something

population will increase by a million, mostly born overseas Love
Report Dr Crippen July 28, 2021 3:02 PM BST
The plan will be the same as the UK's. Share out what already exists.

Although haven't they already got too many houses.

Yes too few houses now Giuseppe.

They built too many which trashed the market.

The market took ages to recover, and when it did there weren't enough houses.
And a many had been built where no one wants to live.

So now they haven't got enough houses.

Best of luck finding room for another million.

houses being crammed into every green space now

planning permission just been lodged for apartments on school playing fields near where I live
Report Giuseppe July 28, 2021 3:58 PM BST
what caused the 2008 crash in Ireland

property bubble was always going to pop at some point

this was combined with bad international economy

and banks were over exposed due to poor regulation

few houses were built in the meantime

then when economy picks up, and rising population due to immigration, not enough houses
Report Giuseppe July 28, 2021 3:59 PM BST
Sinn Fein during the last election promising to build thousands of new homes

other parties "where will you get the workers to build them"

Sinn Fein "we'll bring them in from abroad"

other parties "where will you house them"
Report Giuseppe July 28, 2021 4:06 PM BST
there was a house in south dublin with about 50 romanians living in four rooms

was on the tv news
Report Dr Crippen July 28, 2021 4:07 PM BST
The UK's government's got the right idea.

Promise to build more houses then do no such thing.
