That leftwingers believe that thousands arriving from God knows where is a positive story for the Tories, because it distracts the public from the 'real' issues, gives an indication of why the left will go on losing elections.

What are the 'real' issues anyway?

I'm guessing the pandemic, which the lefties are expecting that any moment the public are 'going to find out' that actually everyone that died was murdered by Tories. The reality is the only people that held that view are the ones that were still raging about Brexit and Corbyn's defeat when Covid started. And they are the only ones that are ever likely to take that view.

Then I suppose Brexit itself. Remainers constantly looking at Remainer media to see any new reports of something that seems worse because of Brexit. Most people are fine with Brexit and understand there are pros and cons.

Then what else is there ? Boris's flat ? Yes that was sleazy but Boris has the image of a posh Del Boy and that sort of dodgy behaviour is factored in. Cumming's interview? I expect most see Cummings as a somewhat sinister wierdo.

The Tories are not going to lose an election because of Covid, Brexit or Boris's wallpaper.

They could lose one though if Farage runs a new party against them on out of control immigration and gets 15%.

It's also becoming clear what the scale of this is going to be

1,100 a day in the weather of mid November.......

The earlier totals of 150-400 on summer days were simply because of lockdowns on the continent making the journey to Britain so difficult. A few months with less restrictions and the numbers are 3-5 times greater even with appalling conditions for the channel trip.

Next year, if no more lockdowns, we will be welcoming 500,000

Maybe it will be less than 500k, but even 1/5th of that is going to put huge pressure on services, housing etc

If it is 1,000 a day then that is going to have a transformative effect on society, not sure why it will for the better.

To think this is a less important thing than Tories with dodgy consultancies etc can only be possible if someone only looks at left wing news sources, where immigration is rarely mentioned, and never in a negative way.

In any right wing media with comments open right now, the level of loathing towards Boris and Pritti is getting to 2019 Remainer levels, and it's not because of wallpaper.

If this carries on, Farage will be back with whatever party and The Tory vote will collapse like the Euro elections with Theresa May.

Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- November 21, 2021 12:57 AM GMT
Sustainable?

There is too much migration
into UK, imo.

We need to take stock of infra structure
to cope with existing population.

Not increase population.

Of course there will be churn
in that many migrants  return home.

We should have a better policy
to recruit migrants that we
need to make our country run better.

That's a different story, argument
to tories briefing newspapers, tv
to lead on stories about migrants
coming here across channel.

Assylum seekers is a different matter.

We should have a system to accept
genuine assylum seekers, as we always
have done.

Most of the people on these boats
are seemingly migrants and not
assylum seekers, but make a claim
for assylum as its difficult to disprove.

Having advertised the migration
route via boat, it's blown up
for government, but it's a vote
winner blaming others for the
problem, and sounding off as
being tough.

Non-European immigration rose significantly during the period from 1997, not least because of the government's abolition of the primary purpose rule in June 1997.[123]

This change made it easier for UK residents to bring foreign spouses into the country.

The former government advisor Andrew Neather in the Evening Standard stated that the deliberate policy of ministers from late 2000 until early 2008 was to open up the UK to mass migration.[124][125]

Neather later stated that his words had been twisted, saying: "The main goal was to allow in more migrant workers at a point when – hard as it is to imagine now – the booming economy was running up against skills shortages.... Somehow this has become distorted by excitable Right-wing newspaper columnists into being a "plot" to make Britain multicultural. There was no plot."[126]

Did you not care for my answer?

I have betfair forum open

And these figures cannot be viewed on
a single page without cut and pasting
them somewhere else.

On a single page I can compare them
more easily without having
to write them down.

Laugh you know it proves once again what psychologists say
Those on the left tend to have an inability to understand different points of view
It goes beyond not agreeing
Wheras those on the right can understand different viewpoints but might disagree

Population growth in England has been due to immigration from foreign countries
When this happens then by definition you are changing the very nature of the country
Quite soon it will not be England - but some other country

the tories are banking on
to distract from their corruption
sleaze and ineptitude”

Really? I would of thought Johnson would willingly accept any amount of sleaze allegations in exchange for the problems in the channel going away.

Johnson got roasted by his MPs over that very issue apparently, probably reflects the response they are seeing in their mailbags, nowt on sleaze but overwhelmed with complaints on illegals, if anything will sink - excuse the pun - Johnson and the Tories it will be those boats crossing.

I think they've realised time is running out regarding the next election. If they don't do something very meaningful regarding migrants pretty quickly, they are toast.

I think it's already too late for the Tories saddo.
Regardless of what they say, the Tories still operates an open borders policy.
Plus, we voted blue and got red, now they've gone green.
What's the point in voting Tory when they're pure socialists?
Unless they change their leader and make a radical move to the right, they won't get my vote.

you do that if you don't read them?)

If that's all they want to spew
onto the forum then there is
plenty of other sources. Some who
do it with wit and charm and
offer other info.

I don't need bother reading
the same boring claptrap over

rhetorical questioning.

I'm not sure it's too late for them Dr C simply because Labour is a hopeless case.
I didn't vote for Johnson but I was willing to let him show me why I should change my mind. Sadly he is falling well short. The Tories have been indistinguishable from New Labour for a long time and need to change.
