Minister has broken Ministerial code and has to pay six figure sum to former colleague from Government funds but she doesn't resign . Hmm, sounds familiar.

Hold on, it's £340K PLUS his legal costs. A million maybe?
Report cryoftruth March 4, 2021 7:19 PM GMT
It would have been a fair price to pay if we had seen the back of the dreadful bully.

Sadly we have all paid that much to keep her in her job.

Astonishing mismanagement.

Johnson supports the bully and scorns the bullied.

Bullingham Club ethos to the core

Legal costs, hmmm, drop in the ocean I suspect compared to the 340k

15-20k tops?
Report lapsy pa March 4, 2021 7:30 PM GMT
The lads that aren't too fond of Nicola are very quiet on this thread, why?

Patel should pay this herself, the taxpayer didn't bully anyone.

Was the £500K paid to Salmond to pay his legal costs? Think it was. That was nothing to do with the court case.

Report lfc1971 March 4, 2021 7:36 PM GMT
It was his job to obey Priti Patels every command , simple as that
Report politicspunter March 4, 2021 7:36 PM GMT
A different scenario of course but when it's government money, no fee is too big.
Report lfc1971 March 4, 2021 7:38 PM GMT
I would have obeyed any of her beautiful commandments
for nothing
Report politicspunter March 4, 2021 7:43 PM GMT
Now that Patel has lost the bullying case, surely she has to go?
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- March 4, 2021 8:02 PM GMT
Salmonds legal costs would be far more than bringing an
employment tribunal which I think is fairly standard for
costs regardless of pay off, which is related to salary
in most cases.

I could be way off, of course.
Report politicspunter March 4, 2021 8:05 PM GMT
According to that bbc link, the Labour guy has written to ask for an exact breakdown of figures so we should find out eventually.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- March 4, 2021 8:06 PM GMT
Seeing Sturgeon questioned for a day shows how
complex the case was.

Salmond and Sturgeon both showed a sound grasp of
their own case, I imagine solicitors would take forever
to present cases.

Johnson just tries to whitewash bullying get somebody
to dismiss the bullying, ( they refused) and stutters some
sort carp defence. Patel hides.

Lol
Report politicspunter March 4, 2021 8:09 PM GMT
Yep, they both clearly knew their stuff (she was a lawyer) and were more experienced to speaking in public/committees than anyone else present.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- March 4, 2021 8:13 PM GMT
They must both have been telling their own
version of truth even though the truth overlaps
somewhat in reality by look of it.

Of course some of the recollections were of discussions
about discussions, and others were about preparations
for discussions.

Quite a leeway there.

A stuck-up old fashioned mandarin not taken to the new approach of a ministerial broom eg do as I say and not how you've or accustomed to getting it done.

Ms Patel is there to re-organise and bring the Civil Service into the 21st Century digital age; old-fashion and slow-working of the Civil Service just will not do.
Report politicspunter March 4, 2021 9:27 PM GMT
Is this her third or fourth case of bullying? I remember the girl where suicide was mentioned.
Report cryoftruth March 4, 2021 10:00 PM GMT
Yes she certainly has form.
She will get caught bullying again as well.
She should have to pay the costs not the tax payers.
Report politicspunter March 4, 2021 10:03 PM GMT
If Boris had respected the folks in her previous departments who had been bullied, she would never be in her current post.

A string of Cabinet Ministers should have either resigned or been sacked  since Johnson became PM.
He's failed to act in every instance.
Utterly incompetent. A shambles of a government.
Report cryoftruth March 5, 2021 8:25 AM GMT
I agree with the sentiments Fact but not the description. The Government is far far worse than a shambles.
The profiteering by Tory chums
The Desmond plate scandal involving the terrible Jenryk
The eye test antics of Cummings
The death planes and lack of Covid care
The bullying gate scandal of Priti
The plan to break a fresh agreement over Northern Ireland and the terrible lies told about frictionless trade across the Irish Sea
And now the pay cut for the nurses

Just a few of the desperately evil behaviour of this awful corrupt government

Ever likely Scotland plans to go her own way.
Report PorcupineorPineapple March 5, 2021 9:09 AM GMT
Why the actual f*ck should I have to pay damages for her bullying? And she carries on like nothing's happened, still earning her high salary while millions of people are just getting by.
Report GAZO March 5, 2021 9:13 AM GMT
makes you wonder what would have come out if they paid this much to stop it going to a tribunal
Report lfc1971 March 5, 2021 9:14 AM GMT
There wasn’t any bullying , she’s the best person for the job
Report GAZO March 5, 2021 9:20 AM GMT
so we paid him that much money for what ?
Report lfc1971 March 5, 2021 9:25 AM GMT
We don’t know why the money was paid , he didn’t go to the tribunal
Report lfc1971 March 5, 2021 9:27 AM GMT
Now we do know that he claimed that ms Patel swore , and asked why were they all so useless
That may be considered bullying i don’t know
Try not to bully Ms Patel please
Report PorcupineorPineapple March 5, 2021 9:31 AM GMT
If there was no bullying why are the government just giving my money away then? That would make it even worse.
Report lfc1971 March 5, 2021 9:34 AM GMT
I’ve just explained we don’t know why
All we know is the civil servant claimed she swore and asked why they were so useless
That might have been considered bullying by some
And might not by others , it might have been the truth
Report PorcupineorPineapple March 5, 2021 9:41 AM GMT
We do know something. The government gave £350k to an ex-employee, and in return it stopped the country hearing the details of the bullying claims.

Now, either there was bullying and therefore I'm personally paying someone else's fees for their errors rather than the bully herself.

Or there wasn't bullying, in which case this government is weak and scared and just gave the money away rather than fight the case and win.

Again, I'm not entirely sure which one is worse. But I'd like to think the money was paid by the person directly responsible, not the taxpayer.
Report GAZO March 5, 2021 9:42 AM GMT
so we do know the cabinet office inquiry found evidence of bullying and then we pay £340k+ to keep it from going to a tribunal and its not the first time we have had to pay someone off for patel
Report lapsy pa March 5, 2021 9:42 AM GMT
Ah stop Lfc,people that lost a limb haven't got that kind of money.

As said earlier, why is the taxpayer footed with this? a disgrace.

Or it’s the end of the world ?

And that’s why I think it’s best he is out of his job and ms Patel continues in hers

Report cryoftruth March 5, 2021 2:50 PM GMT

There wasn’t any bullying , she’s the best person for the job

Classic ifc. Yes there was and no she is not.

She is a liability with proven form for breaching the ministerial code and has been found to be a bully. And the tax payer is paying the bill for her disgusting behaviour.
Report impossible123 March 5, 2021 6:50 PM GMT
Some civil servants are so entrenched in their ways (some merely deadwood) of doing things and not opened to a new approach of working. I was best he went - a golden handshake was bonus. Other industries his position could have been marginalised or lost altogether.
Report cryoftruth March 5, 2021 8:43 PM GMT
Any industry at all, public or private,

Any

Would have been disgraced and humiliated to have employed someone like Priti. She wandered off against regulations in Israel and was found to have breached her authority and behaved appallingly,

Given another chance she has cost her employers many thousands of pounds by being caught bang to rights for dreadful bullying bringing us all into disrepute.

Any employer would have sacked her. Any decent employer. Sadly the person we employ to manage Priti and make the right decisions is the bare faced liar Johnson.
