The dems used the ‘would this have happened were it not for Trump’ line too. Their case was built around this sort of tabloid spin rather than solid legal principles. The question is irrelevant because answering no doesnt prove any wrong doing, let alone law breaking or oath breaking.
Mitch sounded like he agreed with the assumption that Trump caused it.

So are we any closer to the consequences of this impeachment yet now that the dust is settling? Are the GOP on the brink of breaking up? Are they all having sleepless nights about finding Trump not guilty? Or is all this still quietly bubbling away and will manifest in due course?Or was it all just a massive waste of time?
A majority did find Trump guilty including Republican Senators.

So impeaching Trump so that he couldnt run for office again was actually a red herring. The dems want Trump up again so they actually wanted Trump to be found not guilty so he could run again.Which explains the intentionally sh1t case they made against him! This is all starting to make sense
I personally would be delighted if Trump ran again.

No but if he was impeached he couldnt run for office. And if hes in jail he cant run for office. Neither of which the democrats seem to want.
If he was impeached he could still run for office. I further vote would have been required to stop him running for President again. If he is in jail, Trump could still run for office.
