If you don't consume them, you will hardly ever notice any of it. You are not going to walk around miserably, wondering why everybody is mean and wants you to feel guilty. If however you consume them heavily, the likelihood that you suddenly start to see evil people telling you that you should feel guilty about your mere existence...increases dramatically. |

She's right when she says white people get terribly defensive when racism is the topic. Not quite sure why that is the case, but I feel it might be born out of a desperate need to be virtuous and good, or some rubbish like that. "I can't be racist, not me! NO NO! I once talked a black guy!" is like the ultimate form of virtue-signalling.
There's another phenomenon I noticed where people have a desperate need for romanticisation of history. Where people say the state is teaching children to hate their country just because they dare teach them (unlike maybe earlier generations) that not everything was always fantastic and rosy and glorious and without fault at all times. That might be rooted in similar reasons. |
