I have asked people young and old,and from various parts of the country,if they approve of this calamity that started life at £29billion,and will now cost close to £100 billion!!! Unanimous NO
Before covid was on us this was going to be a costly waste, now you question how on earth this was given the go ahead considering the present state of the country's finances.

Every sane person should add their "No" to Hinkley Point and renewing the "submarine nuclear deterrent" Trident.

Was waiting to see if there were any "yes",but unfortunaely not a big response as the forum is very quiet these days.
This is a huge project and I look forward to more response as on major things like this there are usually very strong opinions.
  Remember YES or NO

Yes.
Brunel was always late, and well over budget.
If the forum decided issues in the 1830s, we would still be traveling by horse and cart
Sorry for the waffle Blush

Unbiased? If you were you would call it what it is, a project.

My unbiased answer is Yes and No
More track capacity is needed on the West coast line however that is achieved. If the expensive HS2 is the only way, then Yes. If a slower conventional line would be significantly cheaper (say half price or less) and could be built instead or existing track capacity coud be improved in some other way such as better signalling, longer platforms etc then I would say No to HS2.
Apologies for the waffle.

London's not the be all and end all. We need better infrastructure connecting other big cities. We can already do Liverpool-London in 2 hours. Saving 20 minutes isn't worth the money.

It's a ridiculous amount of money and environmental cost for such a thing and will only further reinforce the gap between rich and poor because every tax payer will have to burden this for the benefit of a few fat cats.
