There was an inquiry , it concluded that there was overriding conspiracy by the British gov to have Pat Finucane murdered
Anyone with any sense knows the British gov had no interest or wish that such a thing should happen

The British government has decided to not order a public inquiry into the 1989 murder of the Belfast solicitor Pat Finucane, one of the most notorious killings of the Troubles, despite intense legal and political pressure.
Brandon Lewis, the Northern Ireland secretary, made the announcement on Monday in a devastating setback to a decades-long campaign for a fresh investigation into an attack found to have involved state collusion.

Loyalist gunmen forced their way into Finucane’s home on 12 February 1989 and shot the lawyer 14 times in front of his wife and three children. The 39-year-old had become prominent for defending IRA paramilitaries, often successfully.
It emerged that Brian Nelson, the Ulster Defence Association member who directed the organisation’s attacks, was an agent controlled by the British army’s force research unit.
The government promised a public inquiry in 2001, only to backtrack. The original investigation into the murder was ineffective and failed to meet the standards required under human rights law, the supreme court ruled last year.

The Irish goverment issued a statement minutes after the UK's one condemning it.
Surely no inquiry is an admission of guilt and the British goverment were in fact in collusion with terrorists?

It won't be the end, America and other countries will want to know why this hasn't been investigated properly,we all know why, you like to point the finger lfc but like only doing it in one direction.
No goverment would want an inquiry when the results may come to the conclusion of aiding and abetting terrorism?

The British government does not get involved in killing lawyers They know he worked for people who committed murder And they know that’s how the system works

As pointed out this evening by the Finucane family , the British Government are as usual kicking the can down the road rather than face a public enquiry . The whole legacy issue has been sidelined / binned by the current British Government , they want nothing to do with justice being seen to be done after due process in Northern Ireland ( part of the United Kingdom ) .
A well documented procedure adopted over the years when uncomfortable facts may be revealed and become facts historically .
The PSNI have said they have no substantial new facts currently available within their organisation , yet the British Government is hiding behind an ongoing investigation by the PSNI .
Eventually the truth will be established , but by then anyone culpable will have moved on .
The Finucane family have repeatedly said they do not want prosecutions , just the ability to establish the truth and move towards finality , which is surely their right backed up by independent investigations ( Stephens etc ) and David Cameron apologetic comments .

The credibility of the PSNI was also severely undermined last week when 2 completely innocent Northern Ireland journalists were awarded large damages for wrongful arrest .
Their only "crime" was to have published a book ( made into a film --No Stone Unturned --) regarding the facts / investigations involved in the murder of 6 innocents ( one an 85 year old ) shot in a quiet Loughinisland pub watching a World Cup match .
The common thread in both these was the allegation of state collusion with those guilty of the respective murders .

If there was no collusion it could be proved in an official enquiry . So why not have a public enquiry if you have nothing to hide ?
There are too many loose ends in both cases that arouse suspicion in any normal person that facts were being hidden to protect someone .

No propaganda, the reality is you are going against a supreme courts findings, why?
Findings, reviews whatever you want to call them didn't work in the Bloody Sunday killings,Birmingham 6 etc until the actual truth was exposed from the pack of lies with a public inquiry.
Mary Lou calling you out with "exposes in the most dramatic fashion the reality of collusion between the British state and the British goverment at the very highest level"
If so, shouldn't the many lives lost due to that interference be made public?

Too big,too high profile, too many dead as a direct result. The truth is too awful.
I remember when they tried to put it about that Martin was in fact an informer protected by the very same.
Imagine something as huge as that but true.
Maybe when they are all dead we will get to the truth.

The council of Europe is on the case as the UK has not addressed an adequate investigation into it.
The cover up needs exposing.
It has to be an independent inquiry as no one will give justice against themselves.

In Northern Ireland they should just have done the same as South Africa: just declare an amnesty for every killing prior to the new deal.....
People were able to come forward and say 'I killed so and so' which at least left relatives clear about what happened, even if there would be no prosecution.
What we have with N Ireland though is people clamouring for investigations into decades old killings by British forces but no interest in finding out who exactly carried out IRA shootings etc
If they insist on investigating Finucane,Bloody Sunday etc then make sure to find 100+ detectives to reexamine all the bombings etc carried out by republicans.
IMO just don't bother and draw a line under the whole thing.

Lapsy, well a lot of unsolved deaths were about the IRA. No doubt there are a few 'people in government' (Sinn Fein) that could enlighten us about those.
Either investigate all of it or none of it is my view.

Yeah, investigate it all, starting at the very heart of Westminster. That in it self self is a lifetime work.
Maybe, eventually, you can nick the odd Garda for using his loaf....in 'the spirit of the nation' man from Castlebar
