I'd like to know that too
|
By:
The rules seem clear to me. Should be settled IMO
|
By:
was backed late to 1.02.........market suspended....now out to 1.09...what's going on , why not settled ?
|
By:
Been on phone to them as well. They're saying waiting on confirmation
Only have to switch on any tv channel, as said should be settled. One wonders why they're keeping the market open so long, if I was a cynic.. |
By:
How much more confirmation do they want? Are they expecting The Queen to phone them up to tell them personally?
|
By:
Has to form a government first, not just say shes going to.
|
By:
But what does that actually entail? When will that be official?
|
By:
Well you can always get more on if that is your inclination
|

Here is the rules here. No mention of having to form a government
For further information please see Rules & Regs. Who will be the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom when the first government is formed after the next UK general election. This market will be settled on the formation of the first ministry (government) after assent is given by the reigning monarch after the next UK general election. This market will be turned in-play at the start of voting on the day of the next general election. Betfair reserves the right to suspend, cancel unmatched bets and turn in-play or re-open this market as and when information becomes available to it. Additional runners may be added upon request. In the event of any ambiguity over an announcement, Betfair may determine, using its reasonable discretion, how to settle the market based on all the information available to it at the relevant time. Betfair reserves the right to wait for further official announcements before the market is settled. If there is any change to the established ministerial role or any ambiguity as to who occupies the position, then Betfair reserves the right to void this market at its absolute discretion. Betfair will not be responsible for suspending the market when an official announcement is made. However, Betfair will suspend the market as soon as it becomes aware of an official announcement. Betfair expressly reserves the right to suspend and/or void any and all bets on this market at any time in the event that Betfair is not satisfied (in its absolute discretion) with the certainty of the outcome. Customers are entirely responsible for their positions at all times. Customers should be aware that: Transmissions described as “live” by some broadcasters may actually be delayed. The extent of any such delay may vary, depending on the set-up through which they are receiving pictures or data. She has been to see the Queen and had the ok, not sure what more is needed? |
By:
Presumably there's no new Government until the opening of parliament and the Queen's speech.
|
By:
Its literally the first line of the rules.......
|
By:
But we're not betting on there being any kind of government. All over the news she is referred to as the Prime Minister. Donald Tusk sent her a letter congratulating her on continuing to be the Prime Minister.
|
By:
She hasn't formed a government yet, she could pop out of No.10 at any moment after having come to her senses and state "what am I on about, I've got no fooking chance trying to carry on", you can't find a cabinet minister anywhere willing to give an interview, they're all currently behind the scenes trying to get her to go....that's why it's still open.
|
By:
That's being a bit pedantic. Surely the fact she's been to see the queen and got the ok
would be enough to say she's formed a government, unless anyone can just turn up and tell the queen how they're going to run the country |
By:
formation of the first ministry AFTER she's been to the queen, she hasn't done that yet.
In normal circumstances where a government had a clear win then I'd agree with it being pedantic, but this isn't normal with many expecting her to have resigned, the possibility is still there that once the dust settles and the realizeation finally sinks in to what has happened she may re-consider her position. |
By:
Backers shouldn't need to wait on the dust settling, she's confirmed she's staying on etc
Anyway, it's a matter of time, just annoying as everyone and their dog have seen the news. She's spoke to queen, had a letter from Tusk, come out and said so herself outside no.10 |

"When will things be finalised? The first deadline is Tuesday 13 June, when the new Parliament meets for the first time. Mrs May has until this date to put together a deal to keep herself in power or resign, according to official guidance issued by the Cabinet Office. She is entitled to wait until the new Parliament to see if she has the confidence of the House of Commons. The government then needs to see if it can assemble the votes it needs to get its programme of proposed new laws passed in the Queen's Speech, which is scheduled for Monday 19 June. This is when it will be relying on the DUP's support." Not sure if this is what we're waiting for. But could take until Tuesday or a week on Monday even. |
By:
Will be a statement today or this evening. Once she has confirmed the new government with the DUP that should be that.
If she changes her mind down the line then that's up to her but it's nothing to do with the bet. The bet wasn't how long she'd bi in charge after the election, just who would be in charge. |
By:
There isn't going to be a new government with the DUP, that would be a coalition, what's being proposed is a half baked informal you scratch our backs we'll scratch yours "alliance"
|
By:
She's just confirmed everything (she's staying) 2 minutes ago live on BBC
Surely time to settle market now |
By:
So is this a coalition? or buddies looking after each other?
|
By:
If it was a formal coalition, DUP members would have to hold cabinet posts.
|
By:
Thanks Duffy, thought that but wondered why the market was still open, I can only assume they are waiting for her cabinet shuffle.
|
By:
it'll be settled when the DUP/Con agreement has been formalised.
|
By:
Bojo apparently "on manoeuvres", cabinet announcements delayed, knives being sharpened, she's a dead duck.
Seems as though May got an agreement in principle from the DUP and then rushed to Buckingham Palace without consulting her closest cabinet members. |
By:
They've been saying bojo's been "on manoeuvres" since 6am this morning
She's here to stay and has said as much just 20 minutes ago. Deal with the DUP happening now, nothing to see here.. |

Breaking News
Queen asks Teresa May to form Government Go collect |
By:
has to be a possibility she resigns over weeekend
|
By:
arket isn't going to be closed until she forms a government, has formal talks with DUP, appoints a cabinet. She hasn't fulfilled the criteria set out in the rules of the market yet!!!
|
By:
Cabinets confirmed
|
By:
4 positions only confirmed
|
By:
5
|
By:
Everyone staying put
|
By:
If Boris or Rudd refuse to serve in cabinet then she will go
|
By:
That should be ok to settle if they all stay
|
By:
Interview on bbc now, she's going nowhere
|
By:
they will probably give her the rest of the year as a lame duck then ditch her and new leader calls a an election for next summer
|
By:
If all of this doesn't make someone the Prime Minister then i don't know.
|
By:
Has she got to come out and say "Hi, my name is Theresa May and I'm the Prime Minister" before they settle?
|
