Report nugget September 27, 2016 5:43 AM BST
Crooked Hillary didn't really do anything to disprove how untrustworthy she is.  Polls suggest the public see her as particularly untrustworthy.  Trump could have probably done more to highlight that but

he showed self control and kept it classy unlike Hillary who got nasty and personal.  Very Presidential.

The mainstream media suggest Hillary won.

It was a boring debate that failed to touch on many of the key issues. Clinton played all her cards whereas Trump left his powder dry on her foundation, health, ISIS funding and especially her emails which he did not push her on at all. Possibly it is a strategy waiting for the smoking gun to be released.

Report unitedbiscuits September 27, 2016 4:18 PM BST
That is correct, tony. It looked very much as if Donald could not think on his feet as fast as Hilary, which augers badly for his chances in the debates to follow. Mind you, it does open the enticing prospect of a complete Trump meltdown in the final debate.

So, you are doubly confused and in error, Dr Crippen. But it was a crazy couple of days. Just look at these examples:
a) If you needed to sell three averagely priced houses, in preparation for emigrating to the US, the Brexit result cost you £60,000 overnight.
b) If you are stuck with twenty low-value properties in the West Midlands, Brexit cost you £110,000 overnight, rising to £150,000 now.
Report Des Pond September 27, 2016 6:51 PM BST
I watched the Debate, and believe me Trump was hopelessly ill-prepared. Either he was arrogant enough to think he could win easily without trying. Or, as I'm beginning to think, he doesn't want the responsibilty of being President and is just enjoying all the attention and the concomitant boost to his media profile. Michael Moore touched on this a few weeks ago, and I am beginning to think he was right! It must be said, tbf, that Moore was contradicting his own statement of a month earlier, but I think he has it right in this instance; Trump just wants publicity. He is only happy when he is bullying people into agreeing with him. The idea of having complex and difficult issues to deal with, having to listen to others, taking the views of other people seriously and being diplomatic and statesman-like, all of this is anathema to him! He is enjoying the ride for now, but he knows he is massively unsuitable for the job. When he is inevitably defeated, he will find lots of people and factors to blame, and will make out it was some kind of moral victory for him.
Personally, I think he will go out in, what he will see as a blaze of glory, by sabotaging his own campaign, saying what he really feels and offending as many people as he can in the next 2 debates.
Report unitedbiscuits September 27, 2016 7:00 PM BST
Trump's post-truth politics were not allowed a free-ride. The tragedy is that we couldn't manage the debates as well in this country, but the blame lies with the Remain campaign - where was Cameron when the televised debates were going on? Where was Corbyn? Where was May?

Michael Moore? Seriouly any argument you have just lost a lot of credibility?

Anyway, lets see what Michael Moore the far-left loon had to say about the debate.  Here are some of his tweets during and after the debate;

Pro-Hillary gloaters doing end-zone dance again when still on 50-yd line. U MUST get it in your head TRUMP IS GONNA WIN and act accordingly!

Michael Moore ‏@MMFlint 22h22 hours ago
It's over. Trump, the egoist, the racist, the narcissist, the liar, "won."

Michael Moore ‏@MMFlint 23h23 hours ago
Instead Hillary responds by plugging her book and website. Please, HRC, pull out the long knives.

Despite showing an obvious bias it's clear to see who Moore thinks will win the election.  So you and Moore think Trump doesn't even want to win the election but Moore thinks Trump will win anyway.  What

does that say about the candidacy of Hillary, not too good.
Report nugget September 28, 2016 2:04 AM BST
Michael Moore was also tweeting about the Flint Michigan water crisis.  Obviously trying to capitalise on a tragic situation, again.
He did make a few good points though;

Flint has voted for Dems for 84 straight yrs. What did it get us? For 18 months Dems remained silent & ignored pleas while Flint was poisoned

@ nugget.

I agree with you that Moore has contradicted himself several times, so it's hard to know what he really thinks. I was just highlighting something he said that made me think that he may have a point as to Trump's predilection for surrounding himself with myrmidons, rather than proper advisors who would challenge his judgement and assist him in making good decisions. Moore is probably just looking to stir up publicity for an upcoming book or movie, so he will say all sorts of things. However, I think that he is right in saying that Trump does not have the right temperament or personality for a position that requires co-operation, consultation, reflection, compromise and diplomacy, as well as decisiveness.
