A 'Mini Ice Age' Is Just 15 Years Away

If Portugal and Spain are not conquered again by socialists you've an alternative, you can buy a house and start a business in Algarve (great beaches and golf) or Andaluzia (great monuments and beaches).

We need more population and to populate again some areas we want people from the British Isles and Northern Europe.

I MIGHT be able to afford somewhere in Greece. Buying a Spanish property at the height of the boom is what has reduced me to relative penury.

I want to invest some money in Portugal or Spain, in tourism and agriculture BUT I'm going to wait and see if the euro survives... or not.

Greece with Syriza is not for me...

The causes may be debatable.

Despite them playing about with the oil prices ( mostly saudi arabia with advice from is rael), many petroleum-based products are still quite dear.
This is why the powers-that-be keep hinting at interest-rate hikes and talk of "inflation" being needed.

Meanwhile, the huge subsidies to the oil industry from the tax-payers continue unabated. Russian oligarchs benefit hugely. They buy up expensive properties in England's capital city with ease.

At the same time, there is the usual housing shortage. Heating bills go through the roof.

Yes, things were probably worse under feudalism, but now is the time to move on from capitalism. it has played its part.
Now we need to look for a better way of doing things.

There is no utopia. We have to make the best of what we have. The current set- up is not the best way to organise the world. Anybody who steps back and thinks about things can see that.

Changing one set of tyrants for another via mass protests never seems to work so I am happy to settle for gentle change within a democratic capitalist system.

We needed capitalism to get us out of feudalism. These "isms" are all just rough generalisations to provide simple, pragmatic, understanding of wtf is going on.
Without them, we can get bogged down in the trivia of day-to-day specifics. These are things that have to be faced on a personal level. Politics are for the Big Picture.

Btw, we are trying to devise a scheme that does away with the "need" for "tyrants" or "protests".

Years ago, at Katanga, Congo, the Irish were left stranded and out-numbered bc the UN was underfunded and miss-managed by superpowers inc France, UK, USA, Russia.

A similar problem exists in Lebanon.

Trying to sort things out under the umbrella of global capitalism doesn't work, in my experience.

We must plan a new way. When this plan is accepted by an overwelming global majority of the world's people, it will work, and things will be much better.

Anything less will just be a hit-and-miss muddle like we have now.

Mini Ice Age?

Autumn seems to be coming early. Cold at night and a lot of leaves down already.

I remember talk of an Ice age in the 1960's.  I suppose if we wait long enough it'll arrive sooner or later.

Your sentiments are laudable sean but I fear the reality would be disastrous,we don't need or ask for tyrants,they tend to impose themselves.

We change the system we eliminate the problem. 'Tis all a matter of DESIGN.
This is the way for PROGRESS.

Tyrants can only thrive in a conducive environment. The same is true of our totally opposite scheme. This can only work when enough of us want it and work for it.

Don't get me wrong: we'll still have to work under communism. That's the main way we get things done and get what we need.

Communism may be an OK system if it worked but I can't think of any system of communism to date that hasn't spawned tyrants and unhappiness with their own people.

Like I said, treetops, true communism has existed ONLY in men's heads. It is a GLOBAL system that cannot work in isolated patches. Communes may be able, but only on a limited scale, bc the over-riding system in force is still capitalism.
For a global system to come in peacefully and democratically, we need an overwhelming majority of the world's people to be in favour.

This is a big task; that's why wasting time and resources on futile reformism is so bad.

The real battle is for men's minds and hearts. We can win, but effort needs to be on the right lines.

At present, largely through media pressure and propaganda, folk are quickly appeased by material gimmicks. Look how quickly the cell-phone became so wide-spread, and
along with it, sh ite like twa tter, fcbk, be bo, insta and the rest. All designed to keep folk dwelling on trivia and thus miss the Big Picture.
