No.

When will the wealthy countries in that region start to help.
It was the same after the tsunami,Europe donating billions but the wealthy Saudi Arabia contributing nothing.
Report CJ70 May 2, 2015 12:04 AM BST
You'd be mad to do this.

Nepal's socialist Gov is seizing any donations and attributing it as it sees fit. You are more likely to be buying a Gov minister a new car than helping people genuinely in need.

If you want to donate, donate to charities that are working on the ground.
Report Eeternaloptimist May 2, 2015 12:07 AM BST
I think to be fair to the OP he gave a more detailed explanation on the boxing forum and the reason he chose that charity was because of their work on the ground.

Fair play. I haven't seen anything elsewhere.

I'd be inclined to donate to any charity that's working on the ground directly rather than attributing it to a donation to Nepal for the same reason as above.

India got  millions from the UK govt. as they're a 'poor' country.
They spunked £24mill on a rocket into space.
Let them bung a few quid in, they're close neighbours after all.
Report wellinformed May 2, 2015 12:27 AM BST
@wildmanfromborneo - they have, India, China, Japan, are all there.
@CJ70 - I'm reluctant to promote any Government Funded Charity, quite frankly no one trusts them or any Big Corp style charities, as people are not sure entirely how much actually goes to actual action. I highlighted GMIN because I have met the members and still in touch, and very transparent, they work on the ground with locals, and operate from with volunteers in the UK and USA. USA registered.
"68 posts in 8 years. Where has he been hiding?" I did say reading the forum too :-) Contact Betfair if you want to know how busy I've been, but I doubt they will give you information.
@spellingandgrammarchecker - the Earthquake is mostly in Nepal. Nepal is an independent sovereign nation. Nothing to do with India. It's up to India how much they donate.
Report wellinformed May 2, 2015 12:29 AM BST
@CJO "Nepal" - in UK actually and I haven't been hiding.
Report wellinformed May 2, 2015 12:30 AM BST
Anyway, to get back to the original post, any donations to the Nepal Earthquake is appreciate. Any questions, let me know.
Report wellinformed May 2, 2015 12:32 AM BST
Whoever donated the first amount - thank you very much! You won't be disappointed.
Report CJ70 May 2, 2015 12:34 AM BST
That's fair enough. Make sure you don't make any mention of Nepal in the actual donation as you don't want the Gov having any opportunity to seize the cash.
Report wellinformed May 2, 2015 12:44 AM BST
CJ70 - I am making very sure no one seizes the funds, and intend to follow where the funds go, hence I chose GMIN UK, I know they are very transparent, and generally made of dedicated young volunteers. I appreciate your concerns. Anything else let me know.

Good effort, wellinformed!

Your moniker has the exact opposite meaning to most of the usual negative whingers on here who rushed to condemn ye.
They are typical btfr forum miseries who probably belong to the gang who "never lose".
They wouldn't give ye the sh ite out of their ar se, which is surprising, judging by the amount of it they shoot on here.

I'm in and out of hospital at present, but I'll get a few pennies to your link when I can.

Thanks for doing this. These tight-ar sed cnts don't mind having the Gurkhas doing their dirty work for them, but when it comes to shelling out after a disaster, they're fkn out like a shi it-hot greyhound.

yes, the govts all around the disaster area are wnkrs; but that also applies here in GB and in Ireland.

sean rua - thanks for your support, I know what you mean with the "never lose" gang, I was one of them once! The true Betfairist knows how to keep their mind at peace. This is one of those ways.

All the best your health, and when you find that moment: http://www.gofundme.com/bfnepalearthquake

FFS!

I can't get anywhere with the link; just sends me back to a "chit chat" page.
If I cannot get in, I'll go down the Red Cross shop tomorrow and hand a bit over in person.

'Tis about time I learned this internet mallarkey, imo.

The link works a treat - you're not playing for time are you?

It's still on £530.

I'll go down the Red Cross shop tomorrow and hand a bit over in person.

And I'll vote Labour on Thursday.

@sean rua - You can highlight the link, and paste in your browser. http://www.gofundme.com/bfnepalearthquake

Once there, click the big red 'Donate' button on right.

The good people on Betfair must be contributing elsewhere.

3 donations in 3 days.
Report wellinformed May 4, 2015 10:03 PM BST
@spellingandgrammarchecker - If so, that's good. I'm raising awareness here. I'll keep going until end of the week, with a view to release the donation to the charity unless I'm asked earlier. Please do donate, there's still a lot of people missing and remote communities getting little help. http://dailym.ai/1EM2Xsb

Much appreciated.
Report sean rua May 5, 2015 9:24 AM BST
wellinformed,

I'll try again, otherwise 'tis the Red Cross shop or the church for me.

The computer set-up I use filters out a lot of stuff. Your link just sent me back to a betfr forum page.

My pittance will get there, eventually. This cannot be said for the good doctor's political outfit.

Keep up the good work!

sr,

Copy the link, open a new window, paste the link into the address bar, then hit Enter on your keyboard.

And whalla!
You're greeted on the web page by a picture of Joanna Lumley looking as if she's just got up out of bed after being on the p!ss for three days.
Probably paid for out of the £530 that's already been sent in  as well.

Click 'Donate Now' and enter your details.

It works just as well in Firefox or Chrome. So there is no excuse.
Just cough up you tight bleeder and stop stalling for time.

I did all that Doc and showed ye what resulted. No pic of Joanna.

So yesterday I went down the Red Cross shop and gave them a pony. Not much I know, but a start.
It took about ten minutes while they filled out a fkn form re tax covenant thing that gives them some sort of re-claim.

Believe it or not, I pay a wee bit of tax on my pension!

Thanks, wellinformed. I did try to use your scheme but couldn't manage it.

Pushing the appeal again today, yet another major Earthquake at 7.4 on the Richter scale in Nepal :( I've wired £500 over to GMIN UK, they are very grateful and it will go directly into getting much needed tents, food and essentials to get people back up on their feet. I've put the aim down to a £1000 to be more realistic, but do come and surprise me Betfair fans!

Yep, more folk in trouble.
I'll have to get down the Red Cross shop agin.

I always used to say I'd run to the high land if there were a quake. The only time I was in one, there wasn't time to do anything.
Now, with this thing happening in the highest part of the world, I don't think getting to the high land is much of a help.Sad
