Whilst driving last night, there was a radio phone- in on the subject of Blairs security costs, apparently it totals £115,000 a week, paid by the tax payer.
What amazed me , was the presenters argument, that Blair had given up 12 years of his life to concentrate on the job ... for us !!!!!!
Silly me.. I thought there might have been a little self interest involved, i never realised Blair was so generous with his time .

I've just sent in a cheque to the Inland Revenue for my tax 2008-9 and one payment for 09-10.

I feel so priveleged to have contributed to the Blair's welfare.

I heard the programme as well, apparently he as earnt £18 million in 24 months, spouting what he done in his time as PM. It beggars belief that we are picking up his security costs, for him and his numerous properties.

Most of that must be spent on protection officers. There must be 20 odd on duty at any time. Even if I am told I have a terminal illness it`s going to be very difficult.

He also qualifies as a non-dom for tax purposes - in his recent interview he volunteered the minor detail that he spends 75% of his time abroad...so no UK tax liability.

It was also reported that the police asked that Blair pay a commercial rate for protection related to his private (ie tax-free money earning) activities. This request was turned down at the highest level.

This lot are only in it for themselves.

Why waste money protecting these fools? Why would any terrorist want to kill someone who can generate so much ill feeling.

Since the government Means Test OAPs for benefits, we could Means Test politicians for their "Second" Home Allowance, and ex politicians for their security costs.

Unbelievable that anyone would want to harm him, he's such a
'straight kinda guy' as he told us so famously.

Incredible that anyone would harbour ill feeling towards St Tony.

Surprised he chose to buy a house off the Edgware Road. But if we pay for enough security and dont stroll outside I dont suppose it matters much-
