working class tories?

They are probably them most deluded group in the country ? They are the ones who somehow think that they are going to be better off if the Tory grandees win the election. They haven't yet grasped that the whole basis of Tory policies are steeped in looking after the finances of their own kind, at the expense of just about everyone else.

The inheritance tax bonanza that they will award tthemselves sums it all up perfectly - but don't forget that Osborne has told us 'we are all in this together'.

If Brown doesn't want to take any flak for the bad years, then he can't take any glory for the good years.

So tories get rich by running business and employing people - and that is bad.

Labour just make people unemployed (again) and that is good. Well done.

mike - why are you still fighting the partisan war?? it does not matter who gets in, the same will happen regardless. neither party will be in control of the situaion will they..

However, we are in Bottler's words 'uniquely well placed - in this matter too.

According to the BIS Britain's banks have the highest exposure to the UAE at $50.2bn, which is almost the same as the next 6 largest lenders put together.

Hmmm....

Most Tories get rich via inheritance, imo.

pompey mike is correct to a certain extent about working class torys
( eg previous labour voters who bought their own home and are now up to their ears in mortgage, car loan, holiday loan and whatever else loan they could get and are now afraid to go on strike because it will put them even deeper in the doo dah)spamgloss as usual would blame gordon brown for her chlamydia even though she is a virgin who nearly had sex when her brothers friend got very drunk.

Owners of firms provide work for their employees at the lowest rates and benefits that they can get away with. That is why Maggie went out of her way to weaken trade unions and slash jobs. Many workers now have no organised bargaining power in their workplace, so changes to working conditions can now be imposed with little or no negotiation with employees.

You also have the hypocrisy of Tories complaining about immigration, whilst bosses all over the country then eagerly employ these immigrants at the lowest rates, often at the expense of workers who may have worked for the firm for years.

Spamgloss - I really did lol at that
Report Pangloss November 27, 2009 6:15 PM GMT
There is no hypocrisy in the Tories' position on immigration. The Tories, like nearly all other EU governments would have implemented the EU regulation which permitted limited and gradual immigration over a 15 year adjustment period.

The UK, under Blair, was one of only three EU countries to permit unlimited immigration. A former No 10 speechwriter claimed that this was a deliberate policy both to permanently change the ethnic structure of the UK and to flood the country with cheap labour and so constrain wage inflation. No thought was given to the social consequences of this strategy.

Anyone who feels that the employment prospects of the working class should not forget which government flooded the country with cheap labour.

Pangloss

it is 7 years

in 2011 the countries that entered the EU in 2004 will have free movement all over the EU. Germany will get flooded, and they already have unemployment woes. All they have succeeded in doing is delaying the inevitable

The inheritance tax bonanza that they will award tthemselves sums it all up perfectly

They might take the view that it was generations of governments that had awarded themselves an 'inheritance tax bonanza' by raiding the accumulated hard-earned wealth of the industrious.

most of this debt is on UK (Scottish) banks loan books. Yes, well done Gordon-no doubt as taxpayers here we shall be shelling out again to ensure completion of this building site in the desert.

Lent billions to Russian "Oil Oligarchs" and Middle eastern Sheiks, then chasrge the working man £30 for going £2 overdrawn when a cheque is slow clearing.

Get paid millions for doing it.

Not much mention of Dubai I notice. In fact it is very interesting as Dubai has very little oil compared with some of its neighbours. It has no industry to speak of so the Maktoums have tried to build an economy based on finance, property and tourism. It all appears to have gone t!ts up. Sound familiar ?
Report caleyjags November 28, 2009 1:05 PM GMT
If global warming and so rising sea levels in the next few decades is true, why have British banks lent so much for these Dubai properties built at sea level on reclaimed land?
