Britain's economy remained stuck in recession in the third quarter of this year, official figures confirm today, with GDP contracting at a rate of 0.3% between July and September, more slowly than the 0.4% first thought.

Many City economists who had predicted a return to growth between July and September were sceptical about the Office for National Statistics' first estimate of the figures last month. At the time, analysts at Goldman Sachs described them as: "Unbelievable. Literally."

But the more detailed analysis released this morning shows a sharp contraction in construction and manufacturing, and a modest fall in output from the larger services sector, leaving GDP 5.1% lower than a year earlier.

We want the Premiership not the Conference League under Bottler Brown, this fool has destroyed the economy.

And the BBC headline? "Economy Shrinks Less Than Thought". Who needs the Sun on your side.

I laughed at that sib.

Where are all the dopes telling us we're out of recession? Funnily enough they are still claiming benefits and/or sucking on the state teat. Mugs.

I am not persuaded by much on here, but I have come to the view that the economic coverage from the BBC is becoming very biased.

I'm not sure they are biased sib (well I am actually) but like some of the usual suspects on here they seem so far removed from the commercial world that they are immune to the problems around us all, problems that are going to get worse. Moreover, cuts at the BBC must be inevitable, it really isn't in their interest to paint a realistic picture of the mire we're in.

ofcourse Britain's recession will be different as it was caused by a banking crisis and we have no manufacturing of note. all eggs in one basket. how did we get to that?

if you call this a recession, you never lived under the one under your great leader maggie

Riser
This is and will be infinitely worse. Maggie never put us in this much debt ( and for what?) . She actually paid back much government debt.
We are all in the sh1t.
