47% of companies are planning a second year of pay freezes. None of these are pubic sector jobs of course.
We are not sharing the pain of this recession.

I stuck a million in the freezer.
Report Toop Toop November 16, 2009 10:42 AM GMT
Really? I wouldn't stand for a pay freeze. I'd simply move to a competitor who'd pay me the going rate.

Pay cuts will come to the Public sctor next year along with job cuts.
Report Dr Crippen November 16, 2009 11:37 AM GMT
They still have powerful unions in the public sector, not like the private sector workers who fell for the right wing propaganda and thought they didnt need a union.

We'll see, Dr C. We'll see.

Unions wont be much good once the money runs out.
Report Toop Toop November 16, 2009 11:41 AM GMT
If the money 'runs out' people won't bother getting up for work so it is a moot point.
Report HarryCrumb November 16, 2009 11:42 AM GMT
YOu are correct . Most be will be redundant on the orders of the IMF.
Report treetop November 17, 2009 10:46 PM GMT
Public sector managers pass the buck too easily and let the unions run them. Solution is to cut their budgets and make them take the difficult decisions before being allowed to run away and live off their generous pensions.

two years ago when inflation was spiralling public sector employees were forced to accept 2% pay rises (below inflation at the time). Had inflation continued to rise then i very much doubt they would have recieved compensation. The majority of public sector workers are low paid and do an important job. Nurses, teachers, binmen, firemen, policemen, doctors didnt create this mess so why should they pay for it?
Report noddys ryde November 22, 2009 11:58 AM GMT
mighty-avareage pay in the private sector is lower than in the pubic sector.

For every public-sector worker who actually has to deal directly with the usually ghastly and stroppy public how many regulators are there ?

Too many.

Are you really trying to suggest that Doctors are "low paid"?
Report HarryCrumb November 22, 2009 12:30 PM GMT
Its not a case of "why should they pay for it" Its just a reality that they will have to. You can debate the fairnes of it all you want but the reality is that the financial position means there is no choice in the matter.

' Are you really trying to suggest that Doctors are "low paid"? '

To be fair, this poster did say ' the majority ..... '

Doctors are very well paid, and rightly so, would you want to get anywhere near NEARCTIC's face or anus [ hard to tell the difference , I know ] if you were a doctor ?

the louse loves his gp whatever he gets paid, he provides him with his daily medication

The majority of private sector workers didnt create the mess either, are low paid, so are all of the disabled, ill, redundant etc.
Why should they pay for it? Somebody has to.

Confiscating the assets of those who caused it and have benfitted wouldn't clear a fraction of the debt, the next generation will suffer for the greed of the last twenty years.

So construction, car and hotel workers caused the recession?
It was the pubic sector regulators that let us down.
Report Mister E November 22, 2009 3:57 PM GMT
and the politicians and their sidekicks.
Report Mighty Whites 2008 November 23, 2009 9:11 PM GMT
the major difference is in the private sector there are different rates of pay for doing the same job whilst in the private sector the pay is similar for doing the same job.

For instance the best teachers get paid a similar amount to a bobbins one. In the private sector if you are good at your job then you have the opportunity to move to a different employer for greater pay.

I do feel there are too many burocrats who do very little for good money. In their case their should be a major review if they needed at all.

Finally doctors may not be underpaid whoever they play a vital role in society. Nurses are without doubt underpaid.
Report Mighty Whites 2008 November 23, 2009 9:12 PM GMT
should say however not whoever its been a long day
